However, it doesn't help the club that Joe has rejected the contract offered to him, and is currently on a "week to week" deal until he gets an acceptable offer from elsewhere.
I like JT, and have really wanted him to do well here, but the honest truth is that he hasn't improved a jot over the past 2 or 3 years. That leads me to conclude that it might be better for both parties if he was to try his luck elsewhere.
The offers he has had from England have not been good enough, so he (or his agent) is trying other options. It's very noticeable that Hilly (who championed him from being his Youth team boss) has not enquired about taking Joe to Barnsley.

For me, the current situation at the club should be perfect for Joey T to step up to the plate and finally prove himself. A lot of key players leaving, a lack of wingers, a drop down a division. If I was JT, I'd be looking at this season as an opportunity to finally establish myself as one of the first names on the team-sheet. He has potential, I don't doubt that for one second, and it would be excellent to see him finally start to realise it when we really need it. |  |

No. We won't miss him much and to get 25k is great business.
Has been in the first team squad for five years and has not progressed at all as a player. It doesn't mean he's terrible, but never has the phrase "on the periphery of a game" been more suited to a player. | |
