Have watched the dale forover 40 years and have not really experienced such a high then low in just 60 seconds. gutted. We may not have stayed up anyway but that goal certainlykilled us of

Closest was when we were 2-0 up at half time many years ago in a key promotion game v Peterborough and lost 3-2 to end our chances

Still totally gutted about Saturdays events. I think the worst thing is we'll never know what sort of boost that win wouldve given the team - not only would we have moved to within 5 points of walsall but the added high of coming from 2-0 down to winning in the 93rd min. Its happened a few times now since Coleman took over that weve had 'if only' moments. Conceding right after taking the lead at charlton, adams open goal miss at scunthorpe, jonahs penalty miss v weds, conceding right after scoring at carlisle, jonah hitting the post v tran and now the freak finish last saturday. You are looking at 6-8 extra points there. If we were getting out of this mess our luck wouldve surely turned by now. Watching back the bbc online highlights makes it even harder to stomach - it shows the kick off and walsall must have around 10 seconds to get a goal - they do it in about 5. Unbelievable.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

Just on that last point - the ref would have added additional time on for our goal celebrations. In fact, he added enough time on for Walsall to almost threaten again - I remember thinking "and now for their winner..."

In general, your post highlights the fine margin between us being adrift of safety and possibly out of the relegation places altogether. Coleman must be shaking his head and thinking we were due to go down whatever he tried to conjure since January.

Plymouth away on the last day of the 2000/2001 season when we failed to secure the win that would have seen us in the playoffs. I was devastated, it seemed like a once in a lifetime opportunity at the time. I remember shedding a few tears on the terrace alongside a few others long after the final whistle, before the very sympathetic steward ushered us out.

To rub salt into the wound Blackpool, who finished in 'our' playoff spot, won the playoffs!

The Walsall equaliser just summed up this season, and walking back down Sandy Lane I felt more a sense of relief that I'd been spared false hope!

Your last paragraph describes, perfectly, my feelings of our current position.

As for Plymouth, that's a cracking shout, seem to remember Jones hitting the post with about 10/15 mins to go. The final whistle was very hard to take.

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor

I remember the Plymouth game as well, at one point results were going our way and we we're in the play offs but then...

I blame Akpro! If he hadnt scored there's no way walsall wouldve got that goal! ;-) Another thing from the online highlights - it shows the shameful playacting from their guy trying to get byrne sent off. When he was banging his hand on the ground at the time there were genuine concerns around me that he was very badly injured - the pictures clearly show byrne was nowhere near touching him.
