As someone else pointed out - let's assume that some years ago, your house was occupied by a paedophile/murderer/sex offender (or whatever).
A gang of idiots turns up in the middle of the night and smashes all your windows, wrecks the car on your drive and sprays abusive graffiti on your walls. They chant vile abuse at you and your family.
Don't worry, though. It's just a focal point for them to vent their frustration. It's not REAL aggravation, they have to let steam off somewhere.
I hope you look forward to it, and understand their 'frustration' when it happens. Perhaps you could offer them tea and biscuits when they've finished, just to show that you really understand their plight. |

Have to say though, that the offences for which the accused are currently undergoing trial at Liverpool Crown Court have been going on for years, with the full knowledge of the police and other authorities who for no doubt reasons of politically correct cowardice refused to do anything about - until it became so blatant (i.e. the perpetrators thought they could get away with it, or it was even condoned) that they were stung into belated action.
My own daughter was propositioned in Rochdale town centre aged 14 on her way home from school by an asian taxi-driver. People do become aggrieved at a perceived lack of action to bring these scum to justice. I'm happy for the court proceedings to take their course, but this should have been happening at least 5 or 6 years ago. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Just to add, that the incident with my daughter didn't come to light until fairly recently (she's now at uni) but she made one very telling comment, along the lines of "when you're that age, you not regarded as being attractive [she used a different word] unless you've been chatted up by the asian lads in rochdale"
The girls being targeted are at a very vulnerable age, and the one's that get caught up don't necessarily have to be from a deprived background. I've absolutely no doubt that there are cultural issues at play here - but we can do no more than bring those responsible to justice and make sure we give our daughters the information and love they need to keep them safe. |  |

Ok then,had the crimes been committed in Pakistan,and they was found guilty,i was wondering what the sentences may have been thats all.I'm thinking the harshness of the sentence in Pakistan would more than likely be more of a deterrent than the sentences they are likely to receive in the uk.Something that maybe can be looked at in the future. | | | |

Horrible horrible trend which seems to be commonamongst Asian men living in the UK; especially in our area.
My wife has suffered from this on several occasions; one witnessed by myself, when 2 Asian men harrassed her as she walked towards my car after she had finished work at the Infirmiary.. When I challenged them, they zoomed off in their Corsa screaming abuse at me!!!
I have no doubt whatsoever that the practice is more widespread than has so far been reported in the media.
Sadly, for every person who would take stupidly extreme and violent action (as in Heywood last night) there are a dozen "do-gooders" who refuse to even admit that we have a huge problem...one which needs addressing.
It is also very very frightening when so called Asian community leaders go on the radio and whilst comdemning the actions of their young men, lay the balme with the young girls for "dressing in Western fashion" which provokes the attacks.
I would like each and every person who reads this to think very carefully about how they would feel if it happened to one of their loved ones.
When I reported my wife's attack to the police, no action was taken because although I could describe the car very well plus the occupants, I had not seen the registration number. |  | | |

Unfortunately, if they were living in rural Pakistan, Bangladesh or Afghanistan, the chances are their victims would become the criminalised outcasts* for "enticing" the men into the behaviour
* I can do the links if anyone doubts this, or thinks I'm being racist. I'm not - I've got many asian friends and work colleagues. Its simply a cultural phenomenon that some asian men have a specific problem with our "sexualised" culture when living in the UK, even if they were born here

This is indeed a massive problem, and one which is becoming more common, or at least is being given greater publicity.
That said, ANYBODY who commits such a vile crime, from whichever background, race, religion or ethnic minority, should be dealt with properly and the full force of the law should be used in bringing them to justice.
The answer isn't to resort to civil unrest or indiscriminate attacks on innocent people, simply because they have a particular 'profile' that seems to associate them with the offenders.
Those who seek to inflict this kind of 'justice' on others are a bigger problem than the criminals they seek to attack. They, too, should be dealt with and prosecuted.
Apart from anything else, the 'Heywood' people on trial in Liverpool haven't yet been found guilty of anything. | |
