penalty in the lead-up to Colback's goal? 22:51 - Feb 4 with 2298 viewsPeterHucker

anyone else think that if Colback hadn't scored, then we should've had a penalty for a clear foul on Yang Min Heok?

Would he have given it though after not giving one for the shirt swap on Dunne a few minutes earlier?

Yes, definitely, and judging by the ref's performance tonight, I'm sure he would have given it had the goal not been scored two seconds later. I thought the ref was excellent all night.

Probably. But then to the letter of the law it probably should've been free kick to them for the Lloyd handball before that. Thank god there's no VAR in this league!

I actually missed the shot because I was staring at the collision waiting (and yelling) for him to give it.

Suddenly the net ripples and all hell breaks loose.

Yeah just watched the highlights and thought exactly the same.

There was an angle on one of the replays where I thought he won the ball cleanly.

But I only saw it once.

Edit: Just remembered - I also thought I saw an angle where the ref was pointing upfield just after the challenge. Maybe he mightn't have given it.

Surely a Lloyd handball before what looked like a definite penalty.

We won this time Boston but we are not getting much from refs overall. There was a clear yellow card not given tonight when Field got crunched and he just gave a takling .There is no way he was getting a penalty there I suspect which would be a crime lucly Colback hammered it home

The alleged handball by Lloyd just before Yang’s penalty claim leading to Colback’s winner demonstrated enough we did got something (the winner! 3 points) from the ref(‘s decisions). No?

Pretty clear on the replays he got the ball and the ref correctly signalled as such.

Weird with handballs. He did get most decisions right but he did miss a couple of blatant Michael Jordans from them as well as the Alfie one. I thought the Dunne pen could've been given too as they pulled his shirt so hard you could see bare shoulder.

Also I think a couple of bookings for them might have calmed them down in the second half when they got very physical. There's light touch and there's invisible. Overall good though. Didn't make it all about him and kept the game moving.

If we hadn't scored I wonder if the ref might not have given a penalty because Yang made it look a bit theatrical?

Yes, that's how I saw it too. From all other angles it looked a blatant foul but there was one particular angle that appeared to show the defender winning the ball cleanly. Kudos to the ref for spotting that. The handball was less obvious but, to be honest, had it been the other way around, I'd be fuming if it wasn't given.

I thought the ref had a mixed performance. The first Saito challenge, Travis steps on Koki's foot then dives. The second Saito challenge, Koki was second to the ball and it was a penalty. However, moments later I thought Dunne deserved a penalty. The Blackburn defender was pulling Jimmy's shirt so hard that the collar almost reached his elbow. I can't help but think that the ref then even things out with the potential Lloyd handball. In general, I thought he was too lenient, allowing a few yellow card offences to go unpunished. This gave Blackburn licence to be very aggressive. We tend to struggle in such games which it made it all the more pleasing to eventually come out on top.

If he had given a pen, I wonder who was have taken it? Chair, Field? Maybe even Colback himself. Made me consider that without Frey, we have a very inexperienced (but talented) bunch of attacking players.

No way was he giving that pen regardless of how or who was fouled ! Like a few others , didn’t even see colebacks shot as I was focused on the ref and looking for the penalty
