Our crap pitch 01:32 - Jan 22 with 1305 views | Tummer_from_Texas | One nice feature this season for American Jacks is Paramount Plus’ coverage of the whole FL, but particularly the Championship. Past championship seasons, we’ve had to watch 90+% of the league matches on Swans TV. While PP mostly ignored us at the start of the season outside of the home Cardiff fixture and a couple others, lately they’ve picked up a lot of them. This means we hear honest opinions about the state of the club. Last 3 or 4 Swansea.com fixtures, it’s come up every time that our pitch is torn up to hell, each time insisting that it hurts us given our playing style. My apologies if this has been discussed around here and I’m ferdy. But since there is nothing about it on page 1 of the board, please entertain my novice questions. 1) Is a choppy pitch really a competitive disadvantage? Yes, I get that we are possession-based, and our crap pitch gives us more chances for a bad bounce to lead to disaster. But if none of the other pitches in the division are in this kind of shape, isn’t that disadvantage offset by the fact our players should have the benefit of familiarity, of knowing where the bad spots are? 2) How many other clubs in EFL share their pitch with a rugby club? Are all of those pitches crap, or do those clubs manage it better? In any case, here’s hoping ownership takes into account the pitch we share with Ospreys, and don’t go after another gaffer with LW’s philosophy, when he goes away. [Post edited 22 Jan 1:34]

You’re right, it’s not conducive to passing football. Not sure on other teams pitches, They rarely look like that though.

| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

So why do we insist on doing so.

The Ospreys will not play a match at the stadium after this season, they will play elsewhere until November next year, possibly Bridgend. I don't think the only problem with the pitch is the rugby, although it really doesn't help. The Ospreys have only played two matches at the stadium since October the problems are much deeper and it needs to be sorted out. Pitch maintenance spending doesn't affect P&S. The u21s haven't been playing at the stadium recently, the club obviously know there are major issues, we used to win awards for our pitch even when it was used by the rugby, the reasons really need to be looked at. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c1m5ggr3mjzo There is no guarantee the Ospreys game will take place at the Stadium on April 6th, Sky haven't done their fixtures for that weekend, if we play on the Sunday the Ospreys will have to play elsewhere because of the 48 hour rule. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

To be fair, it was far more playable to us than the surfaces at CCS and Fratton Park. The ref beat us last night. Our attitude beat us in those games. Only Williams and the players to blame for that

Yes, Luke mentioned it. So, why doesn’t he change tactics. Didn’t affect top players in years gone by. In game management ? Nah I’ll just complain about it afterwards 🙄

But it shouldn't be, maintenance is not included in P&S. Cutting corners the last couple of years is continually coming back to bite us in every direction.
Our crap pitch on 18:22 - Jan 22 with 271 views | ploppy | In terms of other teams in the Championship: The only other team that springs to mind is Hull City. I've always thought their pitch was crap also, and we generally don't do very well up there. Not sure about Bristol City's Ashton Gate - do Bristol rugby play there? We generally don't do well there either. Although, in fairness, there are many grounds where we tend not to do well - shared or not.

But was he complaining? Was he simply asking questions about the pitch because as Builth says it looked really bad last night Journalists can write things with a bias. None of of us were present so it can be easy to have various interpretations.... I may he wrong but I bet it was just that asked about the pitch...he offers an opinion on its state and why it maybe as it is Williams believes the current issues may be partly down to the fact that the surface is simply "getting older". "The artificial stuff that is woven into the pitch has a lifespan," he said. "Once you kick that stuff out, no matter how much sunshine or ultraviolet light or watering you give it, artificial grass doesn't grow back." Williams says the problems do not help a Swansea side who are renowned for playing a possession game, which requires a quality surface. "It makes it tougher, the way we want to play, in particular," he added. I don't think he was blaming the pitch for our stayed of play or using it as an excuse just answering the press

A good coach reacts to what is front of him. And knowing what is front of him he manages the situation accordingly.

Don't disagree with that I used to argue that about a previous coach we had who his supporters kept saying he needed time didn't have the players etc. It currently seems the knives are out for the current coach.... I don't see that article as Williams completely blaming the pitch or using it as an excuse. But other opinions are available

Knives may well be out. But Saturday we play away. Our record this month is ten conceded and none scored over three games with shocking performances. Luke needs to react and regardless of the knives and how sharp they are he knows what will happen if we again concede goals and lay down and surrender.

in fairness he gave it a good go last night....but for a dodgy ref we should have had a result. Denied a penalty when Norrington Davies fouled Peart Harris in the box whilst he was already on a yellow meaning he would then have been sent off and Sheffield 2 nil down and down to 10 men at half time. Wilder made 3 subs one enforced as he knew he had to sub Davies as Peart Harris was giving him a torrid time and he was lucky to be still on the pitch. The sending off of Darling exposes our thin squad and so makes things difficult for Norwich . Despite being down to 10 men we made a decent effort and the only other goal scored was a penalty. I have said elsewhere on here I couldn't understand the wisdom of putting Key at CB where he has never played and Naughton at RB but I also witnessed a lengthy pitch side discussion between Williams Hartley and Sheehan before the change was made . I also recognise that had the football gods been smiling on us last night that would it no way mean it would have been a given of a good performance at Norwich given our inconsistent patterns . I was at the QPR ,Luton Portsmouth and West Brom games all totally different and who would have thought we would have played as poorly as we did at Portsmouth following the QPR and Luton games

The manager publicly begging West Brom for a job will do that to a team

Those 13 crosses with clearances, 6 on the ground straight to defenders are the issue.
