I know I've entered the odd criticism of Marti's post-match ruminations at times, but, Jesus Creepers, this man is frighteningly bad and really makes me grateful for MC's frankness, clarity and honesty almost all of the time.

Calls his team possibly the worst in the club's 147 year history. Can come up with nothing more than 'we have to be better' and 'cant lose so many games'. And (leaving aside his language issues) generally casts about as much light on what needs to be done about his hilariously bad team as a total eclipse!

And they say Rashford's a waste of money! As embarrassing as his team! On this evidence, they'll go down for more reasons than one. Bring it on!

I like him. He’s inherited a car crash and it’ll take time. It’ll take a lot of cash and time just to get rid of some of the absolute dross in that squad let alone build a team that plays the way he wants to consistently well. Did a cracking job at Sporting and this is a huge step up in terms of the difficulty of the role IMO but he’s the best chance they have.

Some of those players though. Antony, Sancho, Zirkzee, Casemiro. Staggering recruitment.

I think in these interviews a manager is never going into details about what needs to be done. Its a 2 minute interview straight after the game. I think he knows what he wants and how he gets it and it isn't with a lot of that team. Same names for a few years and no manager has got a tune out of them. I think the time to judge is after he has a few of his players in and a bit of time. I know a good coach should be able to coach a team his style but I think so many of those players don't have the mentality or physical attributes to play the high energy football he wants.

All fair points, but I still think you have to put down a couple of markers, shed some light, and generally communicate some kind of clarity of vision. Even if most of your team aren't for you (and here I play devil's advocate a bit against my usual tack, I guess), telling them they're the worst ever is hardly going to get them fighting to keep you up. I don't know what he thought he was doing with that weirdly self-conscious crafting of a 'headline' for the media.

If he does not get results fast, he will be gone.

You cannot expect the players to fight for you if you're slagging them off. Many managers have been out due to this alone.

This is going to be super fun.

He basically said that his players were all shite!! Amazing I've never heard a boss say this before! Surely the players will just say feck you mate and down tools. Crazy 🤪

Strangely, if it was me as a player and I would myself be well aware we were playing dreadfully, but this new smart Alec coming in and saying we are the worst ever, for me, I would react by saying, fk you, worst ever, no chance and would get others who would think the same and just up their game to stick two fingers up at the new boss.

Backhanded motivation techniques.

If the players got anything about them as supposed top professionals that SHOULD be the way they react to that.

I doubt they will though and he probably knows that because most of them could not care less.

It's the players that are dreadful.

I can understand why he has said it. It's almost like he knows most of them are wasters.

Amad, Fernandes, Mainoo and Garnacho would be the only ones standing for me.

The rest are an embarrassment and counting their fortunes.

Reminds me of our premier league squad last time around.

The manager did very well in his last job. It's not on him.

But he was fully aware of the situation at United before he left the club he was doing really at .
Everybody knows Casemiro is just cashing checks and Anthony will go down as one of the worst Utd signings ever so what did he think he was going to inherit .What is going on with Rashford is it between the ears .
I actually loved his interview he called out the entire squad its their job to respond now .

Absolutely

They are abysmal

He is right to say it and agree as professionals they have to perform better. He knows he has many lame ducks.

Amorim needs to brush up on his club's history. The current side is not the worst as he claims. They were relegated in 73/74. They're pretty bad now but won't drop.

The headline is far worse than the filmed interview. Personally, I think he’s talking about the performances they’re delivering as a team, rather than they’re a terrible group of players.
I think he acknowledges it’s on them all to fix as a group

Very refreshing that he's calling it out for what it is. Man Utd are a right state, in every way. The playing squad is a bloated overpaid underperforming mess, the ground is falling apart, the training ground is out of date. To think and express any differently would be a bizarre denial.
Frankly, after having to put up with their insufferably arrogant fan base throughout the 90s and early 2000's, it's a beautiful watch.

I think there are some parallels to Marti and us here. We began the season playing how Marti would like his teams to play rather than how we needed to play to stay up (last season). For a number of reasons (injuries/luck/poor performances) it back-fired and we had to revert once again play for survival.

Now we've built a platform for him to try again and he will, with an almost full squad available. Going to be interesting to see how it all pans out from here on in.

They were very fortunate to beat Southampton at Old Trafford the other night. The bottom club who are nailed on relegation out played them for 80 minutes and missed so many chances to put them to bed.

I can only assume the majority of the Utd squad have gone rogue. They upped their performance for Liverpool and Arsenal but then, matches against anyone else, they play like it's beneath them and they did that when their club was honouring the passing of club legend in Dennis Law.

God knows why Amorim took that job. He won't get the time required to turn it around.

Did Antony really cost £80M? That has to be the worst signing in English football, ever. Ten Hag did that deal.

Apparently he’s gone to Real Betis on loan.

Ah come on, you must admit the opportunities for schadenfreude are delicious after all the years of Fergie time and Ashley Young’s club-encouraged cheating that got Shaun Derry sent off at Old Trafford in 2012.

There are so few negatives at QPR currently that we've had to resort to finding them elsewhere.

That's real progress.

He did say it was the worst Man U side in history.
He's obviously never seen the team they brought to LR, in 1974(?), that we thumped 3-0 ontheir way to relegation.
The side included Charlton, Crerand and a totally uninterested Best.

I was at that game and seem to remember Best was subbed and never played for them again.

Incorrect. It's common knowledge that football only started with the introduction of the Premier League in 1992
