Nothing about a new stadium?

As I understood feelings behind this was - it's totally dead in the water !!

Ie We want to stay in the area and all options have been deemed untenable and the council are more interested in more retail space or more on the residential side of things with Tower Blocks climbing into outer space.

I can't see a new stadium happening for decades, but then I can be a tad cynical !!

Apologies for the uninformed question, American here. On the concessions statement, do some PL clubs simply not offer food/drink in the stadium anymore, or is it free (ha, I know)?

Agreed, wasn't there also a player in training videos and known to have been signed for weeks before there was an announcement?

How can all of the following be true:

“This season we’ve had the most contact injuries the club has had in a single season for five seasons”

“League comparison from the latest EFL report says we’re 13th for muscular injuries in the league, midtable in terms of injuries”

Says the recent injury updates are only because we’ve got injuries to update on, previously “we didn’t have any injuries”.

Are we just supposed to forget en-masse the months at the start of the season where players we were expecting to be back weren't then on team sheets and no information was forthcoming from the club.

Appreciate that he's improving the communication and some of the updates are quite interesting and moving in the right direction in some areas if true. But when he's clearly telling lies in some areas (Injuries/Contracts), why should we trust his comments on the other items? Personally I think that telling lies so blatantly and expecting us not to be able to spot them shows a level of contempt for us as fans.

Well I’ll stick up for him a bit on a couple of these points…

Santos and Morrison were here long before their signings were announced. We were waiting for international clearance before announcing. Bayern gave Liam permission to come early as we wanted him on tour. I have some sympathy here. I remember we announced Helguson before it was officially done and he nearly played against us for Charlton the week after.

The two statements don’t correlate because one is for contact injuries where we’ve been badly hit, and one is muscle injuries which he says feels like we’ve done badly but actually we’re about average for the league and it’s just heightened because it’s all in a couple of positions (CB CF) and we did so well last year.

But, yes, for me the idea they’ve only recently started doing injury updates is because previously we had no injuries to update on is straight up, proveably untrue. I don’t know why he’s said that. It’s a welcome change in coms strategy that he would have got credit for acknowledging - “we listened to you, we changed”.

The fan forum, from his timeline the Cifuentes contract was only signed off on on the day of it. As for the others, having heard his explanation, I am very comfortable with our reporting of it.

He's talking about ticket pricing, because some other clubs have removed stuff like discounts for pensioners, or massively dropped the age cutoff for kids tickets etc.

A new stadium has really become a millstone around the clubs neck with no sign of any change in the near future. I wonder if there is any mileage in a groundshare, tear down the old stadium and build a 3 tier (now ancient lights doesn't seem to be a hindrance to building up in the area) modern stadium with a 20-25k capacity?
On a side note; I notice the list of invitees doesn't include a representative of the Rainbow Rangers who have been an officially recognised supporters group for a year now.

The grass is always greener.

Thanks for this, really appreciated.

17/18 If you're not around the first team, there is no point developing you. What a change from sending 22yo out on loan hoping the might come good.
If you have a clear pathway then youngsters will sign for us.

Yeh I thought that was good. For too long we've had 22+ players who are never going to be Championship hanging around.

Cheers for the report, its an interesting read.

Appears to be a strange character in my opinion, who deals in half-truths, and for all the reasons I've said before I don't trust him, but hopefully he's learning fast.

Given the reference to Kolli, I'd assume we'll see an extension for him announced very soon.

Also wonder if the Ashby deal includes an affordable buy option that they expected to take, whether that's still the case based on his performances I don't know.

Football is a business and football clubs are business. Unless we have fan ownership there's not a lot more we can do any more than I can do anything about the fact my local supermarket charges 89p for a cucumber when a couple of years ago it was 50p.

Where it gets blurred is football is emotional and a cucumber is not (well, not for me anyway) so not quite sure what we can do other than turn our backs on it completely (and I know those who have) or carry on.
The closest I think we came to any kind of revolution was the centre pitch sit-in (I was there!) against Man City during the time of the whole Fulham Park Rangers debacle.

One option is to buy-out the owners and take over ownership, with all the costs that go with it, and run the club in a way they see fit.

Other than that, I don't see what other options there are?

The book Animal Farm springs to mind with the thought of 'supporters' buying the club.

I think Nourry comes across well here, and also gives a good impression of a continuous dialogue with MC and so forth around recruitment that rings (mostly) true - to me at least.

I was interested to know if your opinion of CN has changed, Clive, as a result of this latest forum, compared to the sentiments you've previously expressed on LfW.

The short answer is no, not really.

But more communication is better, so I'm pleased it happened, I hope he continues with it and grows into it. It's a very understanding, experienced group of people in there who just desperately, desperately want QPR to do well. The occasional "I got that one wrong, sorry guys, will learn from it" would go a long way.

I think Ashby is OOC shortly anyway, so this has been like an extended trial.

Like one of those 30-day trials Netflix or Amazon give you before destroying your bank account.

Hopefully, unlike me, QPR remember to cancel the free trial.

Thanks for that, Mr W, and the very informative report.

I'd like to think, and indeed do think, that Nourry is one of those who is 'desperate' for QPR to do well. He doesn't want QPR to fail, does he, as how would that help his own career if nothing else?

Mind you, given that the previous bar was a burnt-out CEO who put his finger up at fans on film in the street and laughed in the faces of others, the bar was so low he could hardly fail to improve on it. And he is, in my opinion.

Moreover, if Marti felt he couldn't work with him and/or they weren't on the same page, he surely wouldn't have agreed a contract extension. (The same Marti, btw, for whom some are happy to keep his thoughts to himself after bad performances while fulminating against even the slightest perceived prevarication/evasion by CN. Conversely, while transparency is a good thing as far as possible, I don't expect our CEO to tell us absolutely everything. They're the professionals, and not us.)

Cautiously, therefore, and for all these reasons, I feel more sure today than for some time that the direction of travel is encouraging.

I think that Sterling being on the sizzle reel is fine.
He moved directly from our academy to one of the big PL clubs for a lot of money.

Any other Championship club would be making a big deal about it as well.

Didn't Birmingham retire Bellinghams shirt #?

I don't re Sterling. It's irrelevant to practices now.

He left 13 maybe 14 years ago.

Whatever system was in place then is completely irrelevant to today, ie am sure nearly all staff at that time are elsewhere and training and ways of operating have moved forwards a long way since then, so ways that things were done then, even if they produced a gem, it's completely irrelevant as to how the modern day youth system would be run.

It's like us selling the club by saying we had Bowles who was preceded by Marsh, hence today we have Madsen.

Yes I indeed also agree with Mr Elbow.

Where is this alternative universe that we suddenly all seem to be residing in.

Next thing QPR will win five home games on the bounce after not winning one all season.

Whatever next !!!!!

There certainly seems to be a philosophy of recruiting young players with potential. If only one succeeds, those trying to sell our Academy to kids and their parents will have a decent story to tell. Got to be better than using Sterling who left us ages ago.

there will hopefully be some middle ground, what we were doing in holding on for years was ridiculous but some players do develop later. It is encouraging though to hear they want to get these players in the team earlier and certainly seen that more this season

Probably though youth got its chance only because we have had multiple long term injury problems this season in most positions.
