I have to agree having listened yesterday afternoon stuck in traffic. One thing that struck me is that the lawyers seem to be using prepared questions rather than cross examining the witness. For example, Chris Whitty said we did not have enough testing capacity to understand the start of the outbreak....the lawyer moved on to the next question with out getting to reason why we did not have enough. Was what we had what the scientists had thought we needed? It was pretty weak really.

The reason why we did not have sufficient testing capacity is simple. You cant test for something that did not exist at time. Once covoid was discovered tests has to developed and testing kits had to be mass produced with the whole world trying to get them. It was amazing how quickly testing ramped up from a few thousand a day to over 100,000 a day and eventually many more .

Our government were asleep at the wheel, that’s clear from the evidence we’ve heard. Had they been more “interested” I suspect they could have had a comprehensive testing regime planned out much earlier, PHE announced that they had a coronavirus test in early January. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Germany had considerable testing capacity, you may need a new test for a disease but you also need the infrastructure testing labs, staff and test manufacturing facilities which Germany had.

Covid inquiry on 00:18 - Nov 24 with 4228 views | Robbie | Harry Truman , a well thought of past USA President had a nameplate on his door /desk . The Buck Stops Here , if he took that attitude and thought , nice one . how true . Catch bits on BBC News Channel broadcast , get bored , Coverage latch on to a remark mentioned in the case and waffle on forever debating that issue . Bottom line is , nobody will be prosecuted , lessons will be learned , lawyers rake it in . Any Whitewash paint left in Wilkos , sent it to this nonsense on my screen . Good luck to Wilkinsons staff who have lost their jobs recently , hope you have luck . Somehow David Cameron turns up on tele , in a war zone of course , Sunaks mate , I give up and despair on our Politicians .
