Swanselona vs the Pride of West London match thread. on 21:03 - Apr 20 by Malintabuk | What to say. We are in danger of becoming a very very decent team. IMO that as got to rank as one of our top 5 performances of the season Swansea are a decent and we can say that tonight we stopped them playing, they never ever looked like scoring and we were by far the better team. Willock MOTM for me but really apart from poor Kakay the whole team played well Ball in the back 3 was by far the better choice and after a shake start had a good game Johansen again class and Chair though not great had a good game Special mention to Lums . One good save but looked assured and really pleased for the lad. And Dykes well fast becoming an accomplished player. He change in form must surely be down the Chaz comiing into the club So another 3 points.... and for us the season is going to end too soon.... definitely will be a great end to it and if we could keep the loans then .... well 2021/2022 could be interesting |
Have to agree with all of that. I will add I think we were/are a team in ascendancy due to our good form where as Swansea are chasing Watford, pressure was really on them. We definitely looked the most likely to score and fully deserved it, Dykes was exactly where a number 9 should be and shows the intent we were playing with, right up to the 89th minute. Uncle Albert on hand again to help us grab another late 3 points. Glad you mentioned Lums, definitely deserves credit.

Swanselona vs the Pride of West London match thread. on 21:09 - Apr 20 by Antti_Heinola | Balls. Paused the game to deal with family issues, thinking it'd let me pick up where I left off on 70 mins, was really enjoying it. But it didn't let me do that. Missed the goal :( Can't wait to see it, well done Dykesey. Terrified by the optimism about the place, though. I agree with PP in that Johansen has made an enormous difference, and assuming we're unable to land him again next season as Fulham have fked it, I wonder how we'll be without him. So many players have picked up form since Jan - Wallace, Barbet, Dykes, Willock in particular, which has been a huge reason why we've improved so much, so will be interesting to see how Field and Amos or LTC will do in there. Johansen is such a complete midfielder (tackles, superb passing, great experience and knowledge, and a goal threat) it'll be almost impossible to replace him. |
Agree with this and PaulParker - Johansen has been a revelation, best midfielder since Faurlin, think there’s zero chance we’ll sign him, so the challenge for our management team is to sign/loan a CM of similar quality. If they can do that I genuinely think we’ve got a proper team here for next season. Loved watching them since Jan. It’s a big “if” though
Swanselona vs the Pride of West London match thread. on 21:44 - Apr 20 with 2033 views | dmm | I absolutely love Chair and Willock playing as two no. 10s. They have been given the freedom to roam and double up when they see an opportunity for an overload on the flanks. That's beginning to work a treat as their understanding of each other develops. Their partnership behind a goal scoring and goal creating Dykes could be a very potent attack next season.

MOM? So many candidates in my eyes, so give it to the team! We were clearly the better team& deserving of the win. Bring on Norwich!

Trouble is is it is raising hope and expectations for next season but I can't see us retaining Jo Jo and that will be a big hole to fill. Swanselona vs the Pride of West London match thread. on 21:14 - Apr 20 by karl | Agree with you👠Strange that Ball was his last choice to look at after Field and Kakay (albeit with Dickie in the middle and Ossie on right) when he's the one with experience playing in defence? However MW certainly has earned the right to make these choices with out question, perhaps knew Ball was capable but wanted to use these relatively safe games to check the other options. Tell Ball to screw the nut, don't overplay the Beckenbauer shit and the jobs his |

I was wondering if he'd get a second yellow. Never seen a keeper get a pair of time-wasting cards but there's always a first time.

Would have been helpful if Fulham weren't coming straight back down again, but he'll be in the last year of his contract and they might well look to bring in someone younger themselves. This is exactly it. Our 3421 shape works so well because it gets two technical, skilful players who can receive a pass and turn in tight spaces, operating between the opponent’s midfield abd defence. It’s difficult to defend against, but it relies of good passes feeding them. This is where Johansen has been key, why Field is a huge upgrade on Cameron and Ball, and another reason why Dickie has been a great signing. And it plays to Barbet’s strengths whilst reducing the number of diags he feels the need to play.

They obviously have replaced him, who is that player/s? If they're still there under contract then you're probably right Danny. What the potential fee and wages would be is the bigger problem unless they get sold straight away I would imagine? This run will have really put the owners under big pressure, we have shown that 2 or 3 experienced and high level players make us highly competitive but what will their permanent signing fo yo our squad structure?

You're right that there's two different issues here, Karl. The Fulham squad is stuffed full of loans, especially in midfield (Loftus Cheek is one of them) - so there's obviously a big chance those players leave again and Parker simply brings Johansen back to fill a hole for the last year of his contract. But I dunno... he was frozen out as soon as they went up and you wonder if both player and club might just want a fresh start. Especially if there's a few quid in it for Fulham. Obviously that brings us to the second issue - whether we could or would afford a deal. As you say, it will be hard for the club to just publicly give up on what has been happening here in the second half of the season. Personally if it became an either/or I'd sooner see us spend the money to keep Johansen than Austin.

Of course their loans make a difference, I'd never thought enough of that. What a carry on, we're all relying on the Chelsea loan system of course! Loftus-Cheek needs to get himself a club and work hard to be a top level player, he's made enough now he has to be a footballer. Hopefully to our benefit

It’s going to be an interesting summer as there are a lot of players out of contract all over the world who won’t be getting the same money as they once were I hope and pray the club are doing their research because if we sell say Dieng or Chair and have some funds to make signings then there are some real bargains out there to get
| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles
