Lallana is a fantastic player the like of which we don't often make in this country. Nearest thing England have to a David Silva type. Moves the ball so well and very high movement and fitness levels. The only bright spark of the Euros.

Gerrard on 11:05 - Nov 19 by fitzochris | He's one of those footballers that, individually, doesn't set the pulse racing, true. However, from what I've seen of him for Liverpool and England so far this season, he has been integral in the games he's played. He may not have the glamour, but he performs an important role. |
For Liverpool yes i would agree, he wins second balls and can pass a simplistic pass 10 yards and does a good job because the Premier league is geared up to that style of football. At international level he is afforded more time and space and cannot dictate a game because he doesnt have the guile and class at that level-hence we got a lesson in the Euros.

His performances for England since the Euros have been notable, though. Perhaps he is the only glimpse, or example of, England 'team' selection rather than 'player' selection.

Now that he is scoring goals at international level, I would argue that he is currently England's most important player.

I totally agree. We've got to move away from the 'best' individuals and pick a team best equipped to carry out a plan. If that means unspectacular players or players who play 'individually' don't play then so be it. We don't seem to have an 'identity', a way of playing.

People used to say this about Carrick and it's only over the last couple of years that a lot of people have finally realised what a player he is
