 | Forum Reply | Ten-man Baggies latest to trap QPR in low block ball-ache – Report at 05:20 10 Mar 2025
'Would QPR have scored if we were still there now and West Brom weren’t? ' made me smile grimly through the wincing. Although the levels are clearly not remotely comparable, I thought what we did at WBA was very similar to Arsenal's performance at Man U yesterday (who also have injuries up top) and how the pundits saw it. Lots of pretty, intricate football around the penalty box; no end product/cutting edge. It's partly where we at as a club; it's partly because Cifuentes talks about 'learning' from it, but, as Clive's report makes clear with reference to our rap sheet here, doesn't seem able to. The ratios we can argue. |

Very good, well done you, on your foray into resentful/pedantic semantics. I gave an opinion in the form of a suggestion. Happy now? Meanwhile, in other news, the earth spins to the funeral music of the latest pile-up of bodies in Ukraine and Syria this week. |

If MC has indeed taken the team as far as he can, the fairly obvious conclusion is that this mainly flags up his limits as a coach, I'd have thought. |

OK, I guess, but it's the coach's job, surely, to inculcate a degree of canniness. |

I offer opinions just like anyone else here, which I try to give reasons for. Don't think I need to dig out my resume for anyone at QPR. |

We weren't unlucky. We shilly-shallied around and had one effort on target in 98 minutes. |

Another poster who doesn't seem to understand the word 'nuance' and thinks posters divide into black and white boxes in ways that make the world, I guess, lovely and simple. Hilarious how such individuals never consider for a moment that the projection of 'agendas' onto those he disagrees with is itself an agenda, let alone understand the irony of their own position. Here's a radical idea - some of us can and do criticicise the team AND the manager when it's warranted, and move our critiques across that (very unscientific/contestable) boundary. Let us know if that's still a difficult approach for you to follow! |

It was OK tippy tappy at times, but no cutting edge - that much is uncontroversial, presumably. Can we sharpen our edge sufficiently when Frey, Kollo and goal machine Celar are all back? Methinks the serrations may still be rather too few. If MC felt able to do something dangerous and attend a Fans Forum, a number of us might be interested to learn what his/the club's ambitions are for next season. |

No excuses - well, that's something, I suppose. Interesingly, he says they worked 'a bit' on attacking a low block in training. I suggest they need to go back to work in that case - and this time a lot. I wonder if he'll be reminding us again how he's been telling the club what he thinks it needs - other than more coaching. Meh! |

It's not 'one', it's a few, and if you don't want to 'dissect' games, what are you doing on a fans' forum? [Post edited 8 Mar 21:14]

But that doesn't explain why, bar Saito's terrible miss, we failed to carve out a single goalscoring chance v 10 men all half. Alfie hardly covered himself in glory from what I saw, but the 'service' into him was appalling and in fact virtually non-existent. Besides, I dont think there's a law against other players trying to score, is there? |

Which is a bit of an indictment, no? What exactly was he doing then? |

This! It's absolutely bizarre that some on this board persist in continuing to make some kind of ludicrous dichotomy in which the manager can never do any wrong (while those of us who point out where he falls short are pilloried from post to, uh, pillar) and the players are always left carrying the can. Even with Chair, Saito and Dembele on the pitch against ten men, we still didn't look close to scoring, and both the manager and the club need to address that in terms of the coaching, set-up, and the obvious issues with our frontline personnel or lack thereof since Charlie Austin's first coming. If they can't, they should roll over Beethoven and bring in people who can. [Post edited 8 Mar 18:11]

A whole half against 10 men, and not a single shot on target! I only hope the manager and those in charge can see that for what it is, even if (because of course) they won't acknowledge it to the fans. [Post edited 8 Mar 16:56]
