I've previously only experienced this in Spoons but went into the Thatched House yesterday and made a beeline for the bar as I was running late.
I was on the end of a lengthy diatribe from an elderly bloke about my age, who I then realised was in a queue.
He was incenced, I said I'd been coming in here for about 50 years, but he would not relent.
Surely he could've remembered pub etiquette as was ? |

Dave, I'm sure you know this - the Odean in High St Ken was demolished some years ago. I seem to remember reading it was the oldest cinema in the UK, maybe even the world.
The developers promised to keep the facade in place but they bloody well didn't. |

Eee, when I were a lad, if it was pop it was called a group and if it was a bit more classy it was a band.
I always feel a bit queasy about using the word artist for some performers.
I guess I'm a musical snob. |

Thanks Ted, that's an unanswerable piece on the dangers of smoking.
I took up smoking at a late age - about 25. Earlier, I think I was the only one of our crew that didn't smoke (‘ere, flash the ash, my mates would say).
I never smoked during the day, but got in the habit of a Villiger cigar or two in the pub and smoked a pipe for a while.
When they banned it in pubs I stopped completely. I seem to have escaped any harm.
