Jack Thorpe, no longer with club, trailed, Indhoven to the club, hence now 250k better off. Due to being in Cat 2, the majority of coaches are funded by PL. The real question to ask is not the quantity of coaches present, but the quality of players being produced. |

Let’s hope he has a better career than another Ex Nodge striker who we signed - Adrian Coote . U’s spent an afternoon at the Shabby, trying to put one one a plate, only for the barn door to shut ! |

Having missed a game due to the international break, U’s FA Cup game against Swindon will be included in Lyle Taylor bonus scheme, although outside the October remit. So stay sharp Lyle and best wishes with them pink boots getting your and the U’s goal tally higher. |

Many U’s goals remembered in the derby games against Southend, particularly Cureton and Groves, but Winston White scoring the U’s only goal in 1987, in a 2-1 home defeat is well remembered. Juggled a ball on his foot and creamed it into the top corner at the Spion Kop end, a class goal from a class winger, who would walk into the first team now ! Sadly left after the Orient defeat to play back up north, he also played in an infamous testimonial game ? |

Back to square one for the U’s , no improvement of last season. Typical away performance, take what you are given, and shut up shop. More grappling than football in the first half, which the ref strangely did nothing about, and a second half completely devoid of any decent approach play or quality in the box. Two bad sides making up D2 . |

A night of total football. Never missed placed a pass all night. Outclassed from start to finish. Against Jim Smith side that included Bobby Svarc. [Post edited 19 Oct 12:09]

I was changing ends at half time, behind the main stand, the changing room door opens and U’s goalie Ron Willis is stretchered into a nearby ambulance after earlier being carried off. Not a pretty sight, looked like he had done several rounds with Ali . |

United Through Time. This project will celebrate the history of Colchester United Football Club by engaging supporters in sharing their favourite moments. These moments will be crafted into a timeline that will decorate the stadium, honouring the club’s history. Will end up with all the usual big games, names in the great league and cup campaigns . So instead let’s have some of your alternative moments, incidents which will not make the timeline but forever in your memory, on or off field in your association with watch the U’s , over the years. |

Press build to up to knock them down. They wanted Southgate to play all the creative players and let the hand break off . Carsley did just that, shows the players must do better. Unlike the U’s, one good performance starts the next dawn, that goes behind the clouds all too frequently. |

Tovide had good role models in Taylor and Akinde to learn his art. If you want to play pantomime villain during ninety minutes that’s fair enough, but come off the pitch with goals or assists. Has he got a striker’s instinct, a penalty is still a penalty in whatever context of the game, what did go on in the organising of the spot kicks, has his on field attitude did not look positive from the moment he went to take it. Has I said in previous post, let himself and above all his team mates down . |

Better after 60 mins, when changed to four across the back. Tovide worked hard up front, but let himself down with shocking penalty miss. Side looks much better with a Taylor and Edwards in the side. Wide guys not threatening enough. |

Should have started with side that finished on Tuesday. Played with five across the back with no pace down the sides, ok for an away fixture but not at home . made us too narrow at the top end. Better second half when it was changed, but two points dropped by, by the management with too much tinkering with the starting line up . The previous home fixture had it right, so why change, a matter of dropping square pegs in square holes . This squad is more than capable of playing and winning home games, to a set a pattern , but 45 minutes completely wasted today in being too clever with ourselves . |

Do what you like with stats, but twelve teams have a better goal difference than the mighty U’s at present . A better inclination of how we have performed. Anyway lots of room for improvement. [Post edited 4 Oct 17:58]
