| News Comment | QPR's late, late show on Ashton Gate opening day - History at 18:44:25
Being born and bred close to Bristol I’ve always considered this match the most important of the season and despite witnessing hundreds of QPR goals (including Zamora) I maintain that I have never celebrated a goal more than Stewart’s equalizer. What made it so sweet was the ground was packed and every single Bristol fan still seemed to be celebrating their last minute ‘winner’. Loved it. |
| News Comment | Has the Martí express been derailed? – Analysis at 20:37:35
Great analysis Andrew. I wonder if our high number of blocked shots could partly be down to the amount of efforts we had vs Plymouth and could have been further added to by the crazy goalmouth scramble at Sheff Wed, must have been 4 or 5 shots blocked in about 10 seconds! |
| News Comment | The season that was - Preview at 18:03:31
Just adding my annual gratitude for the amazing work you do here Clive. Fantastic writing, insight and opinion. Thank you. If I have won the prediction league do let me know, would be keen to contribute towards the pre-match. |

Top, top piece, well done Clive. Loved the last section, that country pub sounds very appealing. |
| News Comment | Colback bears gift to former club - Report at 13:05:36
Nice thought that maybe if we had held on to HT it would have been different but not convinced, Sunderland were the better team throughout and looked likely to score at any time, the first 10mins was extremely worrying considering we were the home side. |
| News Comment | City surrender provides perfect summation of QPR's dire season - Report at 06:54:34
Can I take this opportunity to thank you Clive for all your efforts and in particular the brilliant match reports, can’t have been easy to motivate yourself to be bothered to write them for much of the season. Totally agree with all written, my support is at a very low ebb, remarkable that the attendances have held up and so sad the players failed so miserably to provide so few high points. I’m really not sure about Ainsworth and suspect he is in for a short tenure. Very worrying times |
| News Comment | Luton humbling highlights scale of Critchley’s task — Report at 12:04:13
I agree with Critchley’s comments, this wasn’t nearly as bad as performance as the scoreline suggests, possibly a bit of an overreaction from the fanbase on the basis of result only and that it was against Luton. We had far more possession, hit the bar and missed a sitter on another day we get something from the match, I was more concerned with our performance against a very poor Cardiff side. I strangely liken this match to Hull away last year, we won 3v0 but only with a miraculous clearance from Dickie, although the result that day looked excellent and most of the fanbase delighted we overlooked the actual performance. It is worrying times at QPR, 4 home losses in a row, but certainly this performance wasn’t as bad as many others over the last season or 2. |
| News Comment | QPR strike late in opening day thriller - History at 09:15:56
Thanks for the great review some amazing memories. Being from the West Country Bristol City is my personally ‘derby’ game, first fixtures I look out for. I always say the Stewart equaliser that you describe is the goal I’ve celebrated the most, even more so than the likes of Zamora although Barbet came close last season, it was an incredible atmosphere that day and their ‘winner’ was celebrated so vehemently it was fantastic to see that snatched away and a point gained. It wasn’t mentioned but Camp actually pulled off a brilliant save just after as City attacked straight from kick-off and nearly won it. Incidentally it was me that broke the Doherty story on the message board all those years ago, I played in that 5-aside league and can confirm Tommy was occasionally playing, crazy that it still gets mentioned. |
| News Comment | Dieng makes history, QPR score from free kick, world peace declared — Report at 22:39:46
Considering the players we had unavailable and Sunderland’s excellent home form, I actually thought our performance overall was at least reasonable. Even in the first half we had 2 very good chances the difference being Sunderland took their’s. I noticed that various match stats (XG being one of them) suggested a draw was fair. |
| News Comment | Chair's goal coughs QPR back into life - Report at 07:36:30
It was decent performance, marginally better than Hull first half, dominated the second half. Criticism aimed at the team was more down to frustration that we failed to get the 3 points than the performance itself. I was quite impressed with Sanderson ‘5’ seems a touch harsh. |
| News Comment | Serious business - Preview at 17:53:27
Great preview. I’ve got a bad feeling about this match, would be typical of QPR to do to all the hard work of winning away and beating WBA only to lose a very winnable match. |
| News Comment | Rangers strike late in opening day thriller - History at 15:55:52
Thanks for looking back on that 2v2 match, very well described and atmosphere certainly was white hot. Being local to Bristol City I’ve always seen this fixture as my personal ‘derby’ match, still say to this day that the equaliser for 2v2 is the goal I’ve celebrated the most in my football supporting life! |
| News Comment | Smart Stoke set up slays R’s scoring sequence — Report at 21:41:14
I’ve seen a few comments to suggest Stoke deserved to win, stats don’t tell everything but do give a very good indication of how the match went, we had 65% possession, 24 shots on goal, 17 corners and a much superior XG. I thought we played pretty well, just lacked a bit of luck and came up against a keeper in great from. This was arguably a better performance overall than, for example, vs Luton who could have quite easily have got a draw based on play overall. |
| News Comment | Stop me if you've heard this one before - Report at 07:31:11
Seems a little harsh on our first half performance considering we were the away side and Derby’s last couple of results. Possession and passing were excellent with Seny having little to do. Overall good, solid performance and excellent result. |
| News Comment | Perception vs reality — Report at 07:01:10
The top 3 will be top 3 and comfortably so, 4th place onwards could be any team. I’ve been more than happy with our start not sure why anyone would want to aim criticism at a team that is playing decent, attractive football and find themselves 6th. |
| News Comment | Glaring errors cost QPR third straight 2-1 loss - Report at 16:06:00
We can complain at bad luck for the Bournemouth and B.City matches and can point to the match stats to back that however match stats and overall play here we were outclassed by WBA and made to look like lower league team hanging on. I’d like to have seen us go toe-to-toe with a promotion candidate especially as we had played so well against Bristol just 6 days before. All very disappointing. |
| News Comment | Game of the night - Preview at 18:01:13
In response to DieByYourSide I remember fans of other clubs years ago nicknaming us on message boards as ‘drama queens’ which I can’t say I liked but considering the amount of crazy things that were happening seemed perfectly fair! |
| News Comment | Perfect penalties rescue QPR's cup hopes - Report at 18:54:18
Excellent and amusing report as always, well done Clive. Rather than being excited by a cup win and good tie in the next round, I was concerned at how comprehensively outplayed we were from 30mins onwards, can we really mount a promotion challenge with a squad that looks light in certain areas? The biggest worry for me is the upfront and Dykes in particular did he touch the ball more in placing and converting his penalty than the rest of the match? |
