Poorest Ireland team in a long time, jury still out on England.

Indeed. Just more media BS targeted at easily outraged idiots. Funny how quickly they all forgot about the collar flag, almost as if it never mattered or something.

Kournikova never won a slam though. I still think Raducanu will come good again, just needs a solid injury free run.

Twice in a week – Report

"As McGuinness clambered over him I wondered if he would enter the Frey, but when the ball was subsequently squared perfectly for Nicolas Madsen’s first QPR goal it was clear he’d have to get in the queue."

This was the video I was referring to in the 'Clive' thread. Great stuff.

Definitely, you could see that.

The guy who did the video spent time talking about the ground before the game.

The report will be worth the wait no doubt.

That away end atmosphere looked absolutely superb. Probably the best video I've seen was taken from the Luton side of the same end by a blogger guy who was doing stuff about various old stadiums. You get to see the home fans go from joy to despair and the QPR fans going off when we scored.

Just seen my first tweet from a Bristol City fan admitting QPR fan comments about Armstrong's finishing may have been accurate.

Smoking outside pubs

Yeah its quite strict here and even the shops that sell them have to have the brand names hidden.

That said, vaping seems very popular and according to my son the bogs at school are full of kids doing that.

Oasis Reunion 2025
at 12:49 31 Aug 2024

Yes, I went for Edinburgh as its on the wife's birthday. Was in the queue for about 70 mins (started at number 14,750 or something like that) and got 4 standing tickets. Now just have to plan the rest of the trip.

Last time I saw them was in 2003 at a small venue here in Sydney so this will be quite different.

Far better than getting Taylor Swift tickets here in Oz for my daughter. That didn't even have a queue, just had to be logged on all day and people randomly got in. We got lucky eventually but a dreadful experience.

It certainly did for Chelsea for several years until Man City got involved.

Fantastic performance.

First goal, huge strength, aggression, assist. Everything Dykes didn't show. Second just a tremendous finish in front of the away end.

More of this please.

Smoking outside pubs
at 06:40 30 Aug 2024

Without wanting to turn this political as we've had more than enough of that on here recently, pubs didn't exactly prosper under the 14 years of the last government either. Its more of a social change I think. Also people care about their health more than they used to. You already can't smoke inside and that's been the case for ages, doubt changes to the outside rules will make too much difference.

I don't know about the UK, but certainly here on the whole young people don't seem to drink the way we did when young. My kids are both old enough to drink now but neither do very much and I'm quite glad about that. I got drunk every weekend from late teens to about 30, I'd rather they did less of that.

Biggest difference with alcohol is the pint you are drinking can't affect the person next to you. Indirectly maybe of course, if you end up in a fight etc.

Certainly don't miss the days when pubs were full of smoke. I was a social smoker back then but gave up long ago. Awful for non smoking staff especially. Clothes stinking of stale tobacco every morning after too, even if you hadn't touched one yourself. I'm even just about old enough to recall people smoking at their desks in the office.

I remember when they first started clamping down Wetherspoons would have a designated smoking area and we'd go there because a couple of mates smoked and also the aforementioned social smoking. The ridiculous bit was everyone was in the same room/space and there were signs hanging off the ceiling for smokers/non smokers to stand either side of. No word of a lie, one night we had drifted to the wrong side and were addressed by pub staff. We all took one step from where we we standing and were given the all clear to continue with our evening.

Interestingly the loudest I ever heard that one was in the 82 QF v Palace shortly after Clive Allen ran down to taunt the away end after scoring the late winner in front of the Loft. Definitely sounded like they meant it too.

Sprung to mind immediately when we drew them in the next round.
