It's been a great start to the season, but how have our fixtures compared to other teams? One way of finding out is to look at the six teams that each club has played, and counting the number of games they've won in their other five fixtures. That's a maximum of 30 wins. It makes interesting reading: Opposition wins (out of 30 games) 19/30 Forest 15/30 Swansea 13/30 Barnsley, Hull, Millwall, Stoke 12/30 Bristol C, Leeds 11/30 Birmingham, Blackburn, Brentford, Derby, Preston, West Brom 10/30 Middlesbrough, QPR, Reading, Sheffield W, Wigan 9/30 Charlton 8/30 Cardiff, Huddersfield 7/30 Fulham, Luton So using this metric only Forest have had a tougher start than us (they've played West Brom, Leeds, Birmingham, Charlton, Fulham and Preston - ouch!). I think our next game is going to be tough. The six teams we've played have won 15 out their other 30 fixtures. It's a bit worrying for Cardiff - the six teams they've played have only won 8 out of their other 30 fixtures, barely half of the number that our opposition have won. All in all, this makes our current league position even more impressive! |
