| News Comment | Southampton At Sunderland The (Damning) Verdict at 07:19:57
Firstly and I think it came from RM himself a comment about being the first time in his managerial career of actually having a proper squad to pick from. Well the staring 11 showed a manager trying to be nice rather than decisive, this is going to have to change and quickly. Following on from above I thought we were supposed to be thinning the squad?? Just gone from excessive to bloated. This possession stuff is fine if there is plenty of off the ball quick movement. Completely static everyone currently!!! Countless times the player with the ball has no options hence slow play. Holgate = Maitland Niles (although I’ll give him a chance to prove me wrong) Manning getting worse every week. How many fingers and toes did RM have crossed when saying Perraud wasn’t the right fit for the style of football! A lot to sort these next few weeks. |
| News Comment | Saints Plotting Watford Raid As They Wheel And Deal Attacking Options at 11:18:10
If a true rumour I can see the thinking behind it, in that our forwards Ings Adams Long Oafemi whilst all offering something slightly different the one thing we don't have is a bit of height/size up front. Welbeck at his best would give us something different in that respect and has a bit of pace and well. If it is a case sacrificing Obafemi to fund something like this it is always going a close call but this is about getting the squad right. I think this year for many clubs there will be a lot of wheeling and dealing. |
| News Comment | Saints V Brighton The Verdict at 11:20:51
In the defence of Hojberg yes out of position first half struggled. However Ralph made the right decision to take off Romeu as the ref would have given him a second yellow as he had the Monday game in his mind!!!! Hojberg though provided much more energy in the second half. If not replaced properly I do feel we will miss him over a season. We can slag him off for wanting away and airing his position in the media always rubs us up the wrong way, but Raph has dealt with it and Hojberg is still putting in a shift when required to do so.Not letting anyone down on the pitch but money will always talk and you can dress it up however you want! |
| News Comment | Ralph Says No Injury's But Tiredness An Issue Ahead Of Brighton Clash at 13:34:55
Ralph has to look at the fringe players now! Unless from training he has made his mind up. So to me if Danso does not start he won't be here next season. Smallbone would be good to see him starting to get a real opportunity to see what he is like. Djenpo what is happening with him never in squad?? The front lot can rotate. As for Vesty & Hojberg if they are off then unlikely to see them on pitch unless injuries dictate. So what about trying Danso in the centre and put Stephens at right back.Just a thought!! |
| News Comment | Saints At Burnley The Preview at 09:38:54
As for the CB tomorrow it will be between Stephens and Yoshi. Can't see Hoedt playing as he is the most likely to leave of the remaining CB's. Assuming Danso is confirmed, 6 CB's is too many. So with Yoshi having only 1 year left and Stephens not gone in he English window, can't see him going abroad. That only leaves Hoedt who they can move on sell/loan whilst euro window still open. Lets break the habit and KO with a win!! |
| News Comment | Saints Stand Firm On Lemina Transfer As Wolves Waiver at 10:44:37
Lemina, Carrilo Elyounoussi & Hoedt unless he is staying?? all more likely to go in the remaining European window. I think only Austin will be moving today. Whether we get anyone in is becoming less likely especially as the Saints PR spin has already started announcing extended contracts of existing players!!! Great news but just feels like it's setting up for a quiet day ???? |
| News Comment | Hoedt And Cedric Could Be In Ralph's Plans at 09:52:49
The fact that we all need to accept is that Saints will not be able to get rid of every player we seem to think we should get off the books, it will take a few windows to sort the bit of mess we have got into the past few seasons. Cover is needed at right back and Cedric at the price we payed for him and usage may just be on of those players that financially it make sense to keep this season rather than splash out. equally with Hoedt and possibly Boufall they have long contracts and but could do a job even if it is for this season only it's about getting some value out of them. Then looking at the next window to see where we are at with them. The mistake is with the person/s who decided to sign 2 very similar centre backs in Hoedt and Vesteggard and now realising that we only need 1 big unit at the back and alongside a quicker CB, that is were money has been wasted hence now we have this problem that will take time to sort. |
| News Comment | Saints In The Market But Not Desperate at 11:10:26
Hassenhuttl has already shown he can get the best out of players and agree with him we have a lot of dead wood and far to big a squad. This mainly down to the revolving door of managers and the requirements at the time as to how they saw it. Boufal seems to be one of those mentioned a lot in the offload bracket but the guy certainly had the skill and a bit of pace to succeed, yes other parts of his game would need to be addressed but under RH worthy of a second look and would say even now a better option than Elyounoussi?? |
| News Comment | VesterGaard Transfer Delay at 17:02:05
So assuming this happens, we still seem to be strongly linked with Marlon Santos. Santos would make it 6 CB's, surely one too many and someone would have to go. |
| News Comment | Saints Linked With Swansea Defender at 11:24:09
Last season I liked Maguire who we should have gone for instead of Hoedt the money paid was about the same. Lets not miss out again with this similar situation, certainly prefer Mawson to Gibson at Boro, who has been mentioned. People need to realise that just because a team gets relegated does not mean they do not have one or two decent players and like you have pointed out Swans Defence was not the issue. Get it done SFC!! |
| News Comment | Key Dates For The Summer Transfer Window at 15:26:27
Not sure we will manage to sign Hughes before June the 9th! The speed our board seem to go at!!!! Accept these contracts have to be meticulous but how come other clubs can sack and then appoint a new manager whilst we are still in talks. Especially when all parties are happy including most of the fans. |
| News Comment | Time For Accountability At St Mary's at 17:29:17
Personally I say why wait!! but this seems I'm hoping is the plan. Wait for the loss on Saturday and the then new Manager gets a week and a free hit against Liverpool and a fortnight before the next Prem Game away at Burnley with a (becoming less important by the minute) cup game in the middle which can be used as real tester. Obviously don't want the Loss but win and he might still be around I'm not sure what is best. |
| News Comment | Promes Deal Unlikely at 11:12:42
Save the cash and change the manager!!! This guy has already destroyed Gabbadini, Lemina and Redmond nearly succeeded with Boufal, but for a wonder goal to save himself!!! Hoeberg likewise and now we discover after half a season his preferred style is a big man upfront. HELLO was Mr Austin not there at the start of the season!!! Forget Pommes save money & convert Long into a winger save 30 Mill. |
| News Comment | Saints V Watford The Verdict at 09:52:15
Jan Poortvilet 25% win Ratio Harry Redknapp 26.53% Win Ratio Paul Sturrock 38.46% Claud Puel 37.74% Ian Branfoot 28.91% Mauricio Pellegrino 22.22% Decent guy though!!! and speaks good english!! |
| News Comment | Saints Land Carrillo at 21:45:23
lets hope the can play like Pelle as from a height and build perspective Is only an inch taller than Gabbiadini and not the mountain Pelle was. Really hoping he scores shed loads but fearing we may have just wasted 20 million. Here’s to being proved wrong. |
| News Comment | Saints V Tottenham Hotspur The Verdict at 11:33:51
Anyone know why Long was not available!!! As from my perspective if he was just left out, then this is another massive error by the manager!! So I assume he was injured. |
| News Comment | Day 18 ! Can Saints Survive Without New Signings ? at 10:41:18
To answer the question No!! Not unless we change the Manager then Maybe!! Then there is the question If we do not change the manager and if we have some money to spend transfers, do I have faith the right players will be bought!! Not if MP has anything to do with it!!. Just feel like Spurs and Everton with Bale and Lukaku money it could well get wasted by this guy. |
| News Comment | What Was Behind Pellegrino's Strange Team Selections On Sunday ? at 10:39:38
Sorry whilst Pellegrino has had a reprieve since the win against Everton. A leopard can't change his spots i'm afraid. Yes the team are performing better but I think that seems to be down to the players own volition. The world and his wife and child could see the addition of Lemina in the last 20 would have made a difference. Whilst i love yoshi and we can argue about who was to blame for the goal but if you stick Hoedt in the same spot as yoshi he flicks the ball due to him being 6 inches taller!!! Have been patient but sorry to say the guy is loosing us points all over the place, so many time this season I thought we need a sub here and it never happens until after the event. Sorry but bad management of a decent squad. As for tonight feel we are at a similar position to the build up to the Everton game MP needs to win this!!! |
| News Comment | Saints Board Should Not Act In Haste ! at 11:20:16
Echo redandwhitedee, although a few replacements are slightly out I feel!! but as Nick say's every club has it's share of new signing hits and misses but on the whole the board have done well. The biggest mistake currently is the manager. Pellegrino has kept his head above water somehow with the national press due to a few results at the right time, Palace away WBA win and only losing 0 -1 at home to Man U all these have masked to the masses what we see each week!! a team that seems to lack motivation, fitness and are devoid of any tactics, formation or ideas and poor substitutions!! all of which I attribute to the manager. I don't want a knee jerk reaction but is this so,13 games plus pre season more than some have had!!! For 12 games people have said about him learning I have not seen any change to suggest that anything has been learnt and as for Sunday whilst I have hope really feel we will see much of the same, even a win will be another head above water moment for MP. Thought through yes lets hope they have started but things really do not look great. |
| News Comment | Saints At Liverpool The Verdict at 15:49:17
Not sure how this game has finally woken people up to the fact MP is not up to the job. Puel was master tactician in comparison although I will admit I was 50/50, but now rue it in hindsight. Silva was obvious choice 5 months ago so with a limited choice now I am very worried as this decision will define our season but no obvIous choices out there this time round of those available. 12 games and no tactical changes so feel that a loss to Everton and it will be bye bye MP. Sorry!! |
