I think you’re letting your dislike of the referee cloud your judgement. First & foremost he has a duty of care towards the players, that’s what he was prioritising. |

To be fair, the ref was focused on the welfare of the injured player rather than finding the guilty party. |

I thought he was decent, I can’t recall any errors and didn’t notice him too much which is always a good sign. |

I wonder if, like last season, some of our players are still building up fitness and therefore we're trying to control the pace of games and manage our intensity levels a bit. Throw in the fact we've now got several players who need to adapt to the pace of the Championship too and maybe we need to expect our intensity to ebb and flow. However, if we're trying to control the game we need to keep the ball better and close out space when we haven't got the ball. Work in progress all round I'd say. |

In that case I don't think we'd be able to do anything until Jan when we could agree a pre-contact ahead of his contract expiring. Seems we're in a pretty good position for both of them then, happy days. |

2. The selling club might decide they would rather keep the player than have the transfer fee. In which case they could offer the player a new contract on better terms. I don't agree with that, it would make the release clause pointless. If a club meets the release clause and the player wants to go, there's nothing the selling club can do. In Spain, release clauses have to be paid in full. Clubs either negotiate to spread payments but pay a higher fee, or they borrow money from a lender (usually a bank) to pay the release fee then spread the repayments. I presume they work in the same way here. |
| Forum Reply | Should Dykes play alongside Field in midfield at 08:21 18 Aug 2024
I think Dykes best position is more of a 10/deep CF. He’s played it before and looked useful, and if played with Celar ahead of him and 2 of Chair/Dembele/Saito either side he’d bring some physical presence which would otherwise be missing. |

We've got a buy option with Dembele but not Saito, correct? Good start from both, let's hope it continues. |

I wonder how much 'old school' scouting goes on alongside the data analysis. |

I don't agree with the criticism of Nardi but Loyalitat has got a point with regard to the high risk type of signings we've made this summer. There's a lot of unknowns in there which could result in a difficult season. Of course, it's a high risk potentially high reward strategy and I think most fans understand that, hopefully it pays off. I also agree that Santos has looked very poor so far, hopefully he'll come good. As for Eze, Palace won't sell him this summer. Hopefully he has a good season and goes for big money next summer. |

This is how I feel too. In addition, I'd consider making the Community Shield between the cup winners. |

The level of energy and aggression comes from the leaders setting the tone, and we don’t have anyone that does that. |

That would be my preference, I think he’d potentially worry opposition CB’s more than anyone else we have. |

Wikipedia says he moved to Scotland before his 1st birthday, I was actually surprised his accent wasn't stronger. |

Lucas Andersen in his post-match interview said 'we were too passive' which is exactly my point, and it's been an issue for a long time. As you say, we had one of the best records in the league post Christmas, but Saturday's team was largely the same players so it wasn't a question of quality. Look at the difference in our performance vs WBA on Saturday and our game at the end of last season. Largely the same players but nowhere near the same level of performance. We need consistency in that regard and a lot of that in my opinion comes from on-pitch leaders setting the tone, I don't think we have enough of that. However, I also think a lot of that is due to modern football not having a focus on developing those skills, so not specifically a QPR problem. Hopefully, adding the new players adds quality in other areas to make up for these shortfalls. |

My concern is that we still don't have anyone leading the team and setting the tempo, we've lacked leaders/intelligence for a long time and it showed at the weekend. |

Does that mean his contract with us is invalid and we can get rid? |
