What is the thinking behind that line-up ?
Jimmy is not a right back. He should not be a first choice there. Alfie has obviously not been doing it in training or something or another has happened.

I agree. He needs to show leadership. Even if it rankles with Marti. Show proper leadership on the pitch. Elevate yourself above the other players. Not just say what everyone else is thinking. |

Kieran Morgan looked quite good when he came on (albeit it was easier for him to make an impression there, with the game stretching from end to end). Looked good though, as do Bennie, Lloyd etc. when they come on. Problem is, we shouldn't be calling upon these players to try and bail us out with 15 minutes to go. |

Not going to kick the can at Marti in public but that was a strange one. Thought any one of the 3 CB's should have been withdrawn at that stage.

Agreed. The only thing I would say is that he needs to change those players tact a little, so they are more risk-aversive. He also needs to improve the body language when we do f*ck-up. Chair is an example. |

The recruitment has been imbalanced. Letting Armstrong and Dykes go and leaving us with one traditional number nine and a striker who needs a full season in the EFL was not good planning.
However, you have forgotten about Morrison who looks like he could be the back-up CB for JCS and in Varane, I think we tried to recruit the athletic CM that you were hoping for ? |

As a press conference it's OK, he's calm, which is good and conveys belief in his players, which is also good. I just hope that in private he is emphasising the importance of not making mistakes, because it is still happening. Also, he needs to improve the body language between the players when mistakes are made. [Post edited 19 Oct 18:46]

I thought I knew what we were trying to do but, as the O.P. says. its not so clear now. Furthermore, we seem to have started launching it a lot more, i.e. Cook to Frey, which is not the answer. I think Marti wants us to copy the Spanish model, but some of the players are not ready for that and one or two never will be. Its a very very important two weeks coming up for the club. |

I thought Paul Smyth tried and contributed more than Saito, Dembele, Andersen and Madsen (individually and collectively). How those 4 stayed on the pitch for as long as they did I don't know. |
