Bit if a misogynistic, disrespectful and completely unnecessary post towards the Woman's team there, who have been fantastic both on and off the pitch...... |
| Forum Reply | How would you rate the appointment of Marsch (1/4 on tonight at Skybet)? at 08:16 13 Feb 2023
7/10 No point comparing win %'s of managers who managed the same clubs in my opinion, doesnt tell you anything. One manager will have a way of playing that is much more effective for one squad of players than it would be with another. Nothing to show either way that Marsch's way of playing will or wont be exactly suited to the players we have, just like it obviously wasnt working with the current Leeds squad for him (a lack of a striker didnt help him). End of the day you dont know how well a manager will do at any club, just like you dont know how well a player will do. I will carry on hoping..... |

I guess thats the nature of the beast.... end of the day its 11 v 11 yes, but with millions watching.... over the weekend half the fans in the world will be happy, half wont . . . thats a good few tens of millions of people moaning over a game .... Mad when you think about it. I guess its a bit like the news.... the good news is taken for granted and never mentioned or reported on, all the news is bad news, bit like football fans, we could win 10 in a row and the FA cup and the talk will be about the missed chance in a game we won, or bad pass, or substitution we dont agree with. All the good gets taken for granted and ignored, i guess as its boring and less controversial than slagging players off and having a moan. Maybe its just a human thing, if something good happens you are happy, thats it, nothing needs to be done or debated as you are happy. If something bad happens you are angry or upset, you have ideas to change it or what you think should have happened instead or what you would do differently... this is obviously verbally communicated to anyone within earshot. |

At the moment, No, not really. I appreciate what you say and agree with your view point, i think we were spoilt for a couple of seasons and assumed / hoped that it would continue that way and we would be up there in and around the European places for the foreseable future. Reality then Hits and the players that got us there get sold and not replaced, there is no blame attached to that, some transfers will work and some wont, its always a Gamble regardless of the club and/or player (Look at Torres to Chelsea or Sanchez to Man Utd, some clubs/players just dont work) I think at least (recently) we have gone for younger players with resale value if they dont work out so financially the club shouldnt be at risk. The problem there is with younger players there is the inconsistency, and they only become more consistent after a couple of years playing consistently and making mistakes and hopefully learning. Somthing that in this league will often cost you points. There is no quick fix to anything, there is no guarantee changing manager will help, or buying a £30m striker will help, or playing a different formation will help. It might, maybe for a short time or maybe for a longer time, but eventually it will all change again, especially for a club of our size and stature in the game. I do get frustrated watching players make sooo many individual mistakes and have a little 'FFS' to myself throughout games. But i wouldnt Boo a player or shout out that theyre s*** etc. Because theyre clearly not, Lyanco clearly isnt Van Dijk, Djenepo clearly isnt Mane, Adams clearly isnt Lambert, so lets not expect them to play like them, then abuse them when they dont. I have nothing positive to say about Southampton FC because at the moment we are bottom of the league, not, in my opinion playing well at all, looking like getting out of it via relegation only. At the end of the season if we stay up i will be blindingly optimistic that next season will be better, if we get relegated i will be blindingly optimistic we will get promoted, all until we have another poor game/run and accept we are where we are today and no amount of hoping or reminiscing of how good we 'were' will change that. It also Grates on me that 90% of the songs we sing are about hating Pompey, regardless of the opposition, but thats just me. |
| Forum Reply | Adams misses a one on one again at 07:45 25 Jan 2023
Apart from Armstrongs 'goal', the Che Adams one was the only real chance we created the whole game. Need to be a hell of a striker to have a 100% conversion rate. Newcastle could/should have scored 4 or 5. We were/are poor, no striker will change that. Djenepo getting injured gave Jones the excuse to get him off that i think they both wanted. Thought Diallo played well in winning the ball back, but with the ball is terrible. |

Agree. Have been confused by posts, along with Adam Blackmore saying it was one of our best performances, I thought we were poor bar about 20 minutes at the start of the second half. *Defenders who cant pass trying to play out from the back *Goalkeeper & defenders determined to give their 6'6'' left back some heading practise every time they kicked it long *Too slow in possesion and took 3 touches to get the ball under control. *No idea what the pressing was meant to be, it seemed they wanted to double up on them everyt ime they had the ball, but it was so slow they always had time to find the then spare player to pass it to in the middle. *The obvious lack of a goalscorer (wouldnt have needed to worry about VAR if Armstrong actually connected with the ball initially. Just very poor, i'm not even sure a goalscorer can save this season now, unless its Haaland as i dont know any others who could finish the 1 chance they will get a game. still, always another season...... |

Ah, i assume just a throw in then? I guess the way current corners are taken with the curve of the ball having to be over the quadrant of the corner, then technically there is scope for the ball to go forwards and a player to be offside?? |
| Forum Reply | Referee Watch With SFC Ref 23rd January at 13:44 24 Jan 2023
A1= 57 A2= Indirect free kick & Red card for goalkeeper. A3= All of them. cant be offside from a throw in. cant be offside from a corner as the ball goes backwards. any free kick or goal kick if your starting position is in your half you will not be offside. |

Agreed he is a good year behind Kane in terms of the path and the development, But I also think its wrong to write him off. I would keep Gabbi & Gallagher, Get rid of Long and/or Austin - then get another striker in. No idea who though mind you...... |

I know its more Hope than anything...….. But look at Harry Kane's career...… 2011 - Loan to Leyton Orient - 5 goals in 18 games 2012 - Loan to Millwall - 7 goals in 22 games 2012/13 - Loan to Norwich - 0 goals in 3 games. 2013 - Loan to Leicester - 2 goals in 13 games. Hardly prolific 14 goals in 55 games over 4 years. Goal every 3.9 games. Then from 2014 hes back at Spurs and gets 108 goals in 150 games. Plus 19 in 30 for England. Sam Gallagher 2015 - Loan to MK Dons - 0 goals in 13 games 2016 - Loan to Blackburn - 11 goals in 43 games 2017 - Loan to Birmingham - 6 goals in 33 games Less prolific clearly 17 goals in 89 games. Goal every 5.2 games. But a very similar path in many ways...…. |

Burnley will possibly/probably have an away game in Europa League (Turkey I think) the Thursday before, that and Pope (GK) getting injured who has ben really good for them. I'm thinking we have to get the 3 points against them at home..... Oh god, the sense of believing we may have a good season is creeping back, I wonder how long it will last this season...... |

We have probably the best chance we are going to have in any of our lifetimes to get to the World Cup Final. That alone is enough to get me excited..... 'Meh' should be enough to beat Sweden & Russia/Croatia...… In the Final who knows.... I have lost a bit of interest in the last 8 years mainly due to the poor football England were playing..... I don't have that feeling currently so am more than happy to jump on the bandwagon and enjoy this while it lasts. |
| Forum Reply | Sterling. at 08:50 4 Jul 2018
Agree with both these... Rashford and Loftus-Cheek over Sterling & Alli Cant knock the rest of the team though, although Dier was poor getting up to speed when he came on but i'll let him off as he scored his Pen - although their keeper could have done better with that too. |

From the outside looking at 2 options, Saints V Everton . . . . . I can see why he would choose them. Unfortunate as it is. |

Don't be so Racist!!!! Elyounoussi is clearly, blatantly and factually Norwegian!! Stop Calling his name Moroccoan (which I can only assume is a racist term you use for Norwegians with Moroccan heritage) - makes me sick!!! |
