Interesting article from late 2011.How do the new planning laws affect the situation?

http://www.opendemocracy.net/openeconomy/tony-curzon-price/planning-at-wormwood-

Surely after Uncle Lakshmi's Olympic investment and growing relationship with Boris, Boris would push it through (Tory council as well) and Given that Uncle Lakshmi is also one of the biggest donors to Labour should that political situation change we will have batsman on the other team as well

Surely you just restrict the amount of people getting into the station at any time, like they do at Wembley?

aint that easy the station is tiny trust me , lived 5 mins from there its residential roads there are small as is the entrance to the sation with i think two barriers , youd have one hell of a crowd outside after each game waiting to get on a train thats for sure. the walk to white city is a decent tek as well prob 20 mins maybe more once again pavements arent massive around there and wood lane isnt wide enought as it is to widen tem to allow for the extra foot traffic.

so many reasons why LC isnt suitable it will still prob end up there remember this is rangers we are talking about

I've been to East Acton station a couple of times in the last year and it is small, smaller than Shepherds Bush Hammersmith & City. You could almost walk past the entrance and not notice it if it wasn't for the LU sign.
It's quite a resdential area there too so not sure how happy they'd be on match day. Though local shops might be happy.

juzz last time I went to east acton station i think there was two shops by the bridge theyd be bloody ecstatic if it happened , as would most of the shops in east acton. think there is a small pub in east acton as well now hold about 40 people perfect for a pre match pint

The Pavilion would never know the like. It may even drag some people into The North Pole. They are the only two boozers anywhere near the Scrubs and the Bush is a good 25 minute walk up Wood Lane. It may well be just as easy to drink around Ladbroke Grove (The Eagle) and walk down Barlby Road.

The only pub near East Acton I can think of is The Goldsmiths Arms and that is a trudge to the Scrubs.

It would also mean I could walk to Rangers in 5 minutes from the Peabodys.

If it ever happened.

Come to think of it, there is that tiny pub on Old Oak Common Lane. It's an Irish boozer but I've never been in there. They'd love a bit of it.

think the north pole is closing down as it happens so if anyone wants to buy a pub which is busy on a sat 20 odd times a year its the perfect oppurtunity.

I believe that plans are a foot to move East Acton station as it cannot comply with legislation allowing disabled access. Plus LC is an probably 10mins from White City station etc where most people come from so guess the majority of people would use their old route instead of trying to use East Acton.

Also think traffic and the hospital is a red herring. Chelsea are located beside as hospital without any problems or objections and other teams like Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal make it work by closing roads off why should it be any different for us

As my son was born at Queen Charlotte's (right next to Hamm Hospital) I would say there is zero chance of this. Access for cars in next to impossible, it's a tiny road, which is blocked every day in rush hour and the other side is bordered by a railway. As for Crossrail, that's stopping at Acton Main Line, nowhere near here. I'm sure you would not be allowed to spread onto the Scrubs for parking either.

At risk of contradicting an icon of this board, the club have stated clearly a plan to create a year round concert/event venue to rival the O2, with the R's as anchor tenant. Presumably it was this plan that lured PB to us in the first place. Can you really see that happening at the back end of Du Cane Rd??

I do too. They wouldn't be the first foreign punters to underestimate the overwhelming power of the Uk planning system and nimbyism to thwart a good plan.

I've seen the bloke again today and he is adamant that It's going to be the LC stadium, as he said yesterday there are now some Highway's issues to 'iron out' but It's going to happen.

If It don't then I'm up for a stoning, no problem with that as like I said yesterday I don't normally do this sort of thread but the bloke convinced me yesterday, and today.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

oh come on - "ain't thought it through?" TF and the Mittals have get to where they are now not through luck, just good judgement and hardwork. They are a lot more clued up on this project than anyone on this board, and they don't seem to look very worried with what some people have said here on the reasons it won't be the LCS.

So, if it is to be the LCS, I have every faith that not only will the stadium be the dogs, but transport and other facilities will be taken care of, might even get a big, new members bar to drink in?

Fortunately/unfortunately nimbys are definitely in retreat and the planning laws modified to their dismay - if the proliferation of wind farms is anything to go by.It's not as if The Scrubs is a royal park and we've got the benefit of an unwritten constitution.Anything can happen - and probably will.Like LR it's too good a development to miss.

Qpr are not even on Lakshmi Mittal's radar. He is indulging his banker son in law in a vanity project while he concentrates on running his empire.I don't know how much TF knows about our planning system or who advises him, but if he seriously thinks you can build a 45k stadium at the Linford Christie he is very badly advised.

You are falling into the old banker's trap of believing that people can have the Midas touch - anyone can come unstuck, even very rich people. Especially when they buy football teams.

I've seen a recent feasibility study and the LC stadium is not one of the three sites identified. The three sites are:

1. Aviva/helical bar site (unigate)
2. White City Estate
3. Loftus Road site, stadium rotated 90 degrees

The LC site was identified a few years back as a possible site for a new indoor youth training centre, but not progressed.

Number 3 sounds interesting, I'd like to see a mock up of how that would look.
