Mariners all at sea against the DC inspired super U's 22:38 - Nov 22 with 3517 views | durham_exile | Well, I was truly amazed to look at the League Two table and saw Grimsby Town in 7th position; 16 games played and 25 points. We of course have 14 points from 15 games and languish in 21st. David Artell is working wonders with the Mariners. Also, for the first time since I don’t know when I’m not travelling to Cleethorpes and so will miss out on Gerry’s company and Papas fish n chips. A combination of Sky TV, impending weather, babysitting duties means that I will watch another game on Sky. The all-important weather forecast suggests 10 degrees Celsius, light rain and occasional snow showers. Not pleasant. Also, Grimsby had a number of outdoor Christmas festivities planned but have had to either postpone them or move them indoors. Storm Bert has put paid to some of these activities. All in all, very sad indeed. So, for those faithful CUSA members and others safe journey and I hope you enjoy the game. I’m going for a 2-1 Colchester victory with Tovide and Taylor on the scoresheet. DC will be looking to field a strong team in order to secure that elusive Away win. Sad news from Peterboro where Bradley Ihionvien faces two months on the sidelines following a freak injury and a bone growing where it apparently shouldn’t be. Get well soon Bradley. We have also drawn Wimbledon in the BSM knock out stage. A chance for revenge after the opening day defeat. So how bold will DC be on a shocking day weatherwise in Lincolnshire. If they are all fit then let’s line up something like this: Macey Egbo Goodliffe Donnelly Iandolo Thorn McDonnell Payne Edwards Tovide Taylor Subs Smith Flanagan Hopper Anderson Read Gordon Woodyard Safe journey to the travelling faithful. Enjoy the game. Up the U’s

Mariners all at sea against the DC inspired super U's on 13:09 - Nov 25 by gerry_us | I was one of the 200 plus at Grimsby on Saturday. I can take responsibility for four point to U's in the last few weeks in my area; a point at Chessie and three points at Grimsby. Should I go to Notts County??? A word to all the U's supporters who made the journey to Grimsby, not only the very early start but with also the possibility of the weather causing postponement. Noah told me he set his alarm for 5.30!!!. I only know one around teatime. I had to leave home at 11.15 to make the ko. I absolutely admire your total commitment to the U's. Great to see an empty ground while we continued to celebrate with the team |
It was actually a 04:30 alarm Gerry. I will apologise now for not setting my alarm for 03:30 next weekend for an 04:30 departure to Fleetwood. Regrettably, I must watch on TV as on the Sunday I have another long journey and it’s just too much. CUSA has formally complained via the Football Supporters Association that two consecutive long away journeys for 12:30 kick offs, and then a Friday night trip to Crewe is utterly unreasonable. But nobody gives a S H 1 T about real fans.

Mariners all at sea against the DC inspired super U's on 14:50 - Nov 25 by RSCOSWORTH | After the last couple of matches I've paid extra attention to the views of the opposing fans. The consensus, both times, was that we were the better team and should've won comfortably. Interestingly both sets of fans seemed unhappy with their manager and recent performances by the team, This didn't really surprise me with Bradford as they are easily the biggest club in this division and should be right up there really. Grimsby fans being unhappy with Artell, some even saying he should be sacked, I found very surprising. As a club who has recently spent time out of the football league and had a bit of a relegation battle last season you would think they'd be pretty happy with where they find themselves right now. Is this just the general attitude of football fans these days? In that they have unrealistic expectations? Or has it always been like this and they just have more of a platform to voice it now? |
Interesting question. I recently listened to "The Game" podcast as they had a discussion (towards the end of the podcast) about Col U since the Cowleys were appointed. Gregor Robertson made the point that when a club consistently underperforms over a number of years, you should look to "the top" of the club for the reasons. I took that to mean the owner/s, rather than the managers/coaches.

Think the authorities must be concerned over are category status due to not enough players progressing from the set up.

I think the Col U academy is category 2? I know that the PL part funds all the academies but I've no idea how much money a club like Col U puts into it.

Totally admire the dedication noah. I appreciate the TV money is important but a 12:30 KO is a real blow to dedicated supporters who make regular away days. I am not surprised the Football Supporters Association have not commented on these long trips with TV KO times plus a Friday night game the weekend before Christmas

Mariners all at sea against the DC inspired super U's on 09:58 - Nov 27 with 229 views | RSCOSWORTH | Man City fans booed their team off last night. They've won about 20 trophies in the last 10 years. Some fans have very short memories. They must've all forgotten when they were in the third tier back in 1998/99 although most of them probably didn't support CIty then.

RS I am sure that many of us on this board were present at Maine Road on 31 October 1998 for the City game. Attendance that day was 24,820. We were unlucky to lose 2-1 but played very well. Unlike the Emptihad today I would suggest that the majority of those present were real City supporters. I know that those of us in the away area were true Col U supporters. Supporters are fickle and football is a results business but no team has the right to expect to win every game. City must learn to live with reality. Up the U's
