Bluesky on 19:56 - Nov 16 by GaryHaddock | It’s not just a woke thing. Loads of huge companies have moved over it seems. Mastercard for example. Hardly the bastion of wokeness there! It’s not just a political decision. The X/Twitter platform just doesn’t deliver for business anymore either. We’ve just created a profile for our company and it’s already being followed by exactly the people we need it to. Our followers on X are fake profiles of beautiful woman. [Post edited 16 Nov 19:59]

This is something that doesn't seem to be landing with people - it's not "woke", the site doesn't function properly anymore. I work in advertising and it's hard to recommend clients advertise there. There's a brand safety piece for sure, but functionally we can not guarantee you are actually reaching the numbers of people they claim they are

Agreed. I've shared more interesting/funny Bluesky posts to whatsapp friends in the past week than I did Twitter posts in the preceding months. Music, footy, art, laughs...Bluesky is currently doing a great job reaching me and my friends. I hope it lasts.

Bluesky on 16:52 - Nov 19 with 2540 views | sparkey | I downloaded Twitter and used it solely for QPR news. Pre Musk I thought it was the best social media about, with extremely entertaining moments which were easy to follow. Now it is all divisive b*llshit. Whichever political ideology you have, the app has now turned into cesspit for anger from both sides. You can say I'm being 'woke' but I am centre politically and constantly seeing complete and unregulated racism, sexism etc etc on a daily basis and it being lapped up and applauded is pretty disgusting. That isnt free speech, that is hate speech. If you said that on the street you'd get a night in hospital, just because you're doing it online doesn't give you a free pass. Likewise how the only 'left wing' views I ever see are of extreme nature. There is zero balance in anything, just people saying the most outrageous things to get attention. Anyway I left twitter today. P.S. Musk is a tw*t [Post edited 19 Nov 16:54]

I've been careful in my posts on this thread not to mention the politics side, the "hate speech", the divisive stuff. Purely on a user experience basis, Twitter has been destroyed. We are consistently getting better engagement and interaction in LFW content off 395 BlueSky followers than we are of 15,400 Twitter followers.

Proud to be 1 of the 395 | |

From what I've seen by not using any filters, it is starting to creep in. I wondered if it was a concerted effort by either X generated bots or the same knuckle draggers that have destroyed X taking advantage of a new platform to spew their hate on.

Bluesky on 20:45 - Nov 19 with 2125 views | queensparker | I work around digital advertising, and it’s long been dead as a platform for any serious company. As Clive says the interaction is now down to zero, and it’s been totally gamed by its owner to allow bots and extremism (on all sides) to flourish. Nobody will touch it. I’m fully aware Musk doesn’t give a fk, the hundreds of millions he’s lost on Twitter were always a marketing cost to get him what he wants (power and a weird cult-like popularity he can’t get in real life) and he’s up on the deal.

It doesn't, but more is geared towards showing you what you follow, whereas X and Threads is geared towards engagement. On X in particular this has been accelerated by people paying to go to the top of the pile, but also the large amount of content farming which is mostly self promoting automated accounts

Bluesky on 09:44 - Nov 15 by slmrstid | Whilst the platform itself can be a nightmare in its own right, the Championship forum on Reddit is actually a pretty good laugh and is always full of Simpsons and apple crumble memes (for when teams at the top lose and are "crumbling") and actually on the whole has good discussion from fans of all the clubs in the league without it resorting to stupid tribalism that you see on the likes of Facebook. Currently in the international breaks this year people have been trying to outdo each other in posting Championship tables in a variety of formats and its actually quite funny. https://www.reddit.com/r/Championship/ |

there are also some neat settings too, so I've set it to show replies from people i follow to people I don't, as you see some interesting stuff that way, but you can turn it off, or set it up to 3 replies down
Bluesky on 11:48 - Nov 20 with 1516 views | qprninja | Yeah, switched over yesterday. A shame, as Twitter used to be brilliant, you could customise it to only see stuff from who you wanted, and they used to actually ensure there were consequences for people forgetting their responsibilities in relation to free speech. Now it's a joyless ad-filled, bot-filled, far right propaganda machine. I'm oot.
