That’s because they are trying to restrain and cuff him using reasonable force, no doubt they’re all pulling in different directions etc. Doing things with the minimum amount of force is much harder than decking someone.

When faced with anyone wielding a blade ,my advice is to take flight and run away as fast as possible for as long as possible .
If you engage ,chances are you will get cut . If the worst happens ,then get in close to the assailant so he won’t be able to take the leverage away . .
Best not to freeze through shock.

I’ve been in conversation with my son in law whilst he was on duty at an event
Being an interceptor ,he is permanently armed .
