T' 2023 LCCC season 16:33 - Apr 9 with 19572 views | D_Alien | Decided to start a separate Lancs cricket thread Surrey have had much the better of the opening game at OT, declaring to set Lancs 444 but after the earlyish loss of the openers, Bohannon (107no) and Croft are putting up a fight At 234-2 with about 25 overs to go, not safe yet but to come out with a draw would be creditable

Pity as it is usually a big crowd. However it knocks out Yorkshire and makes it highly likely we will grogress to the last 8

It wasn’t to be, Lancs suffocated by the Surrey bowlers and Livingstone failed to ignite.

CDG has been a big let-down. Looked like he was settling in nicely but hasn't kicked on at all.

For as good a signing Mitchell has been the combination of both Vilas and DeGrandhomme have been a waste of an overseas player slot. Playing Balderston and Bell would be much better in the long term.
T' 2023 LCCC season on 19:42 - Jul 20 with 2055 views | jonahwhereru | I know the focus has been on the test today, but I want to give George Balderson a shout. What a couple of days he has had, maiden century, 116 not out, then 2 for 27 off 12 overs today. From being a player that Lancs couldn’t find the right shaped hole for, he is becoming a very decent Young all rounder.

Absolutely. He should be a shoe in number 7 for the next 10 years. Unfortunately poor selection has seen him being left out of the red ball side recently. In the 50 over competition I would l like to see him being given a run of games. It will be an interesting season next year with Jones, Lamb and Parkinson leaving. I would expect Vilas and Croft to retire which should create opportunities for Bell, Singh and Hurst. Hopefully Aspinwall will fill Lamb's depth roll in the white ball team and it would be nice for Boyden to come through as a left are seamer option.
T' 2023 LCCC season on 15:01 - Aug 14 with 1790 views | isitme | Not surprising Vilas has announced his retirement from the county game at the end of the season. He has been a good servant for the county, although his contributions have tailed off these past couple of seasons, which probably has influenced his decision. I suspect Croft will join him. With the departures of Lamb, Jones and Parkinson already announced it will provide a good opportunity for the next generation to get some game time.

It has been an interesting one. In the Championship rain probably prevented two victories early in the season. The T20 campaign was mard by strange selections, such as Jones as a specialist fielder batting at 8 and a lack of white ball specialist seamers apart from Wood. Reaching the knock outs was fine but Surrey were just were just much better on the day. With the Hundred taking players away the Metro Bank competition is a development one for most counties and Lancs have blooded a few youngsters which is good. I would have liked Boyden to play a few games. Definitely a season of transition. I would be looking at a gun overseas white ball seamer as one of the overseas players but availability is a problem. Oh to have the likes of a Wasim Akram for a full season!

Great bowling by Aspinwall at the end to back up Lavelle and Hurst's big partnership. A win against Notts on Tuesday and it will be an away quarter final tie. The inexperienced players have all contributed in this competition.

It's good to see, but someone in the Lancs hierarchy needs to put Vilas out of his misery before he leaves If we make the final, hope the youngsters keep their places, rather than bringing back the likes of Livingstone, still going through the motions in the Hundred shite [Post edited 20 Aug 2023 19:00]

Yes, saw that on the cricinfo website too Not sure, but maybe it's to do with the number of games won, after which run rate applies? Cricket's always had some pretty obscure laws, but every competition seems to have different ones...
