Jimmy Carr. 10:28 - Feb 15 with 22617 views | Snipper | A group of us went to see Jimmy Carr at Indigo O2 on Sunday night, and he was absolutely brilliant. One early heckler got it for the rest of the show. The poor bloke got absolutely slaughtered. Lol 😂. Anyway, it was completely sold out, and I wasn’t aware of anybody who was offended. You know what you’re getting with Jimmy Carr, so if anybody doesn’t like him or his material, then don’t go, or don’t watch him on Netflix or normal television. He said very early on in his show that he knows he’ll be cancelled coz of that ‘joke’. The vast majority are having to pander to the very small minority. It’s their way or the highway. Great comedy will always cause some sort of offence to somebody, whether it’s mother in law jokes, wife jokes, sexual jokes, religious jokes or general dysfunctional jokes. Sunday was the first time I’d actually seen a proper stand up comedian live, and I’ll definitely go and see more in the future. And I don’t mean left wing political so called comedians like Nish Kumar. He’s as funny as having your nuts cut off with a blunt spoon.

It’s present here too, albeit in a more pathetic form.

Farage never had a job though.

stu peters..................................lol, can't stand the bloke, but the reaction to him being what he is after being ambushed by a group of callers was a bit much. He's now an MHK. Anyway, can we cancel him from your list and replace him with Kathleen Stocks. I'm off to look for my cervix.

You've posted one story from the entertainments page, and two from local pages. Can we now see the 'multiple' ones from the 'front' page? Meanwhile as far as I can see JC's tour is going ahead with no dates 'cancelled.'

Honestly, I'm not trying to wind you up, it's not on the homepage when I just looked on my phone. Perhaps on a laptop but the fact that there must be 30+ articles on front page on my phone suggests it might not be the conspiracy theory you think it is. Edit- 56 links and not one of them about Jimmy Carr [Post edited 18 Feb 2022 11:30]

"Unless you're being kept in solitary confinement with no access to a phone or laptop, you're not really being canceled are you?" People seem to be confusing being "canceled" with "having your human rights removed"

Mine has QPR stories on the main page, if you searched or read a Jimmy Carr story related articles are more likely to appear. I think the BBC can't win with these kind of stories, if they report them they are trying to cancel people if they don't they are covering it up. Personally don't think anyone is going to cancel him, he'll still work, his tour is ongoing if you like him you'll still watch him. Is the same with many comics. You have to do something pretty awful to never work again

Not sure they do......Social media maybe, not news websites. Your personal topic preferences also have no impact on the BBC news top 10 - which regularly has the latest "Cancel culture" shitshow as its most-read story. But fair enough, I haven't decided to make my BBC homepage a slightly crappier version of the QPR website, so maybe I just see more of it than you.

your main news stories you see will be the same for everyone but the rest such as Sport and entertainment is personalised. The cancel culture stuff being the most read isn't a big shock as I imagine both sides of the argument read these articles seeing it from very different points of view

Fascinating insight, Dave. Although, again, I'm not sure about how accurate it is. For example; I have never set women's football as something I'm interested in, in the sports section, and yet my Sports homepage is constantly full of women's football. So the idea the BBC simply recommends stories based on your viewing history or news preferences, or even their popularity is evidently not true.

It's only the mainpage which is tailored for you. Once you click on Sport or News you all see the same thing. They brought it in last year, I only noticed because the main page always had QPR stories on which I thought was a bit weird
