Falkland War from Argentine Eyes on 14:47 - Jun 3 by 1983
It was intended as a shot across the bow to them, they then knew we were in it to win and not to feck about..
Imagine if Argentina had sent a task force 1,000's of miles to the UK to take an occupied Jersey and it's special forces had also landed in South England and they had won!....No me neither so yes they are a banana republic they took their chance and failed miserably on their own doorstep.
Wouldn't Jersey have to be Argentinian territory and populated by those with Argentinian roots for that to happen?

I would imagine NATO would step up.
Galtierie was the leader of the Junta who invaded to gain popularity, he never in his wildest dreams thought we would respond.
Of course all loss of life is tragic, but Maggie called this one right.
This is how much Thatcher and her govt thought of the Islanders. She threw them under the bus until she could make political capital out of their plight.
Under the British Nationality Act 1981, a resident of the Falkland Islands was classed as a British Dependent Territories citizen unless they also had a connection with the United Kingdom (UK) itself (such as through having a UK-born parent or grandparent). British Dependent Territories citizens were restricted in their right to enter and stay in the UK.
It was amended later of course.

What you are really trying to say is, you hate the fact that the Falklands war, was such a glorious victory for the British. Rule Britannia 🇬🇧
No - i am saying the conflict should not have resulted in the death of our young servicemen. Its unarguable and a modern tragedy.
Have a march around your back yard if you feel the need for some relected glory to make you feel manly. The rest of us will again reflect on the futility of war.
Thatcher chose this path for Thatcher, not the benefit of the UK.
Beware of the Risen People

NATO chose to do nothing about it.
NATO is there to protect its members, you pick on one country you pick on them all. NATO had no legal right to get involved and no member state would have the stomach to get embroiled in (let's be honest) and unpleasant skirmish which doesn't affect anybody in the west.

God you are hard work
Rum That has been applied to me But it's really simple/
We are a free nation, and we are because we have stood up for ourselves and other countries whilst others like ,Spain,Switzerland,Ireland and Sweden have done nothing at all to help the cause of freedom.
Falklands people were threatened by invasion but some of our people were quite prepared to see them subjugated by Argentina ,an horrendous vicious fascist state.
Instead of supporting our troops,.they were branded as invaders . We also see and saw sympathy for our enemy.

Just as well it aint 1939.
Its remarkable that those who shout the loudest about how anti-fascist they are are quite happy to turn a blind eye to the Junta regarding the falklands. Funny that.

Or maybe they just wanted the situation resolved without the loss of young soldiers lives. That is surely a good thing.
Full of it with Argentina, not so full of it with Russia. I think we understand the real difference.....
With wars you always end up talking in the end. Why not start with the talking ?
Thatcher did this for political reasons, little to do with the poor people living on the Falklands. British military lives are expendable to her and her type.
Argentinian people are our friends. â¤ï¸

If you can't see the difference between retrieving the falklands from a fascist dictatorship (and not involving any other country) and protecting its citizens from a war between Russia and the Ukraine then I think you are myopic.
Wars start for a reason and there's always an aggressor.
The argentine people may be our friends (like people all over the world are our friends) but if you want to think a fascist dictatorship is your friend you crack on.

Rum Those who profess to be socialists often fail in this regard.
South America has seen the greatest fascist dictators of our times yet Ive seen little about Argentina,Paraguay,Chile and Bolivia in my lifetime. We have a communist dictatorship in Venezuela ,a rich country destroyed by left wing dictators. Left or right ;makes no difference.
We see Tory voters vilified as scum regularly on here.Ive asked as to what should be done with them as they are so full of filth. People in the Valleys couldnt admit in mixed company they voted Conservative. It's been aid they are not welcome in the town .
Again, massive stinking Welsh hypocrisy. We lead the world at it and need to wind our necks in.
Brave, well-trained and committed is not enough though. Conflicts are decided on more than that. They were let down by govt and the Generals. Not enough troops on the ground to do anything worthwhile. The British Army in Afghanistan spent most of the time just defending themselves , they didn't have the boots on the ground to dominate any territory let alone pursue the enemy .
The Taliban learn by their mistakes. the full frontal attacks were easily repulsed, so they turned to a hit and run tactic which we had no answer too. The Americans brought in a surge of troops to actually go after the enemy. We don't have the resources to do that.
Wow you don’t half spout some rubbish if you have not been there experienced it how can you (from what you claim to have read ) have the audacity to post this drivel unbelievable pal your really ain’t got a clue
