Sky Sports reporting he has died aged 65.

Fantastic player for us in the early 80s. RIP Glenn.

Superb work by Chris Guy, and a fitting tribute.

Lovely tribute. Reading it, it seems staggering that the clueless idiot Burtenshaw didn't pick him for three months to start with. As I recall, when we signed him that summer he was one of the most promising players outside the first division and had just broken into the England B team the previous season at Orient. Yet more ammunition to say Burtenshaw was our worst ever manager.

Was it Alec Stock that signed him?

Yes I think we were between managers. Frank Sibley had left and we hadn't appointed Burtenshaw yet. I have a feeling but not sure, that he was a coach at the club so maybe the fact that he wasn't appointed until August, would suggest that he wasn't the preferred choice.

Anyone know more?

Seems to be unclear. Wiki, Soccerbase and qprnet.com says Sibley was manager until 29th July.
Wiki says Alec Stock was caretaker manager for a couple of days (30th July - 1st August) but Soccerbase says he was caretaker from the 30th July - 10th August.

qprnet.com says Glenn was signed 10th August, the same day Burtenshaw came in but usually these things take a couple of weeks to happen so quite likely he wasn't his signing hence not playing him at first.

I'd say Alec Stock probably had a great deal to do in his signing.
