I also have full confidence in BBM and his staff. I realise he has a plan to take forward with a threadbare squad. That said, the fare on offer is a hard watch and uninspiring. Despite there being a plan there also needs to be something in there that attracts people to see the team and watch them produce the goods.

A pedestrian victory over a poor non-league side wasn't the way to encourage a casual onlooker to turn up on Saturday.

BBM is doing what he can, he believes in the plan he has and I think, in the main he has the support of the majority of the crowd in what he is trying to do, but there needs to be more urgency, more passion and more action in the opposition half than we saw last night.

“It is easier to fool people, than to convince them that they have been fooled”

Why can we not play the players in their correct positions. Play Alby as a centre forward as he was at the end of last season he was good and even scored a few goals too. For me Tavares , at the moment is too lightweight and Pyke looks the part but hasn’t stepped up to the plate yet. We need forward momentum and at the moment we don’t seem to have a clue on how to pass the ball forward and even when we do if we do keep the ball it invariably goes backwards to the goalkeeper or a central defender.

In what way does Pyke "look the part", every single time I've seen him he's been bang average at the very best and anonymous in the main.

Pyke looks like he should be a good footballer in so much as he looks like he should be quick looks like he should be able to control the ball, but as I said so far he hasn’t stepped up

Not necessarily - we played entertaining attacking football against Sunderland, lost, and got a standing ovation from everybody in the ground. People appreciated the effort and commitment and went home having been entertained and not too disheartened by the result.

Fair comment about the injury situation and also missing our 2 international players but even taking that into account does anybody think it acceptable that last night we had only 3 (THREE!!!) shots in 90+ minutes against a team near the bottom of the 5th tier. And it is not as if we can say it is just a one off - we have been stuck in this particular rut for several games now and the malaise seems to be getting worse!

Can I repeat my question and ask you personally (honestly not trying to be snide or having a go) but did you go to the game and if so did you enjoy any aspect of it?

Deserves a reply as I like a nice reasoned discourse!

I was there last night and you're right it was a difficult game to watch and to enjoy. You could go so far as to say the only bits I enjoyed were the result and seeing academy graduates (Tavares, Morley and Camps) start the game.

Theres a lack of respect to Wrexham for me, who frustrated us over two games and the fact that we had kept clean sheets in those two games should be seen as a positive. Yes of course we must aim higher but the opposition are going to be very different on Saturday and going forward in the league and we need to recognise Wrexham for stepping up and frustrating us.

We also need to recognise our squad and how thin it is. We want quality and quality cover in all positions but our size and budget will only stretch so far.

As some have pointed out the team from earlier in the season has been decimated by injury with Matheson, RND, McNulty, Rathbone and Dooley all missing from the team that played so well against Sunderland. Add in to that we have had a full league program, leasing trophy games, progression in the league cup and we have a squad at breaking point.

Wrexham had the luxury last night of a fully rested 11 having made 11 changes from their last game and having not played since we played then last.

Appreciate there are wider questions about the team philosophy as a whole but we can see when the squad IFA fit and available for selection that it works and is entertaining.

For me support is needed at this point rather than public and vocal criticism on matchday. It achieves little. This is where our value as supporters comes from.

Some people have valid points and the game was dire but we are through. I'd prefer to win badly than lose well

At least our CEO should be a happy lad today......His team through to 2nd Round and £36k on it's way to the coffers. Another £12500 TV money guaranteed plus a a bit of cash from ticket sales to come......IF we can beat Boston, that will be another £54k. These figures are not peanuts to a Club like Dale.

Keeps us going for a week or so,I suppose.

Have to commend the Wrexham support bringing 400+ up here on a Tuesday night. If it was the other way around we'd have struggled to take 100.

I've always advocated keeping the analysis and measured criticism to forums such as these.

It does no good at the game itself.

Really?

One thing that can't really be criticised is the number of fans who travel away as a proportion of our home attendances.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

I think back in particular to the home defeat v Sunderland. Dale were a joy to watch and were applauded off the pitch at full time after a harsh defeat. That style of play would've flattened Wrexham and several more in League 1 we have lost to since. Where has that drive and positivity gone?
Post-match inquest - that was as bad as we played at Wrexham, but we got a well worked goal.
Rochdale are now painful and boring to watch. Sideways backwards sideways backwards sideways backwards sideways backwards ad infinitum, oh, we're halfway up the pitch and we've lost the ball. That sums up too many Dale games these days. It certainly described most of the cup game last night . Four league defeats on the bounce and two very poor games against a struggling National League side suggest this method is not working.

"I think back in particular to the home defeat v Sunderland. Dale were a joy to watch and were applauded off the pitch at full time after a harsh defeat."

Arguably caused by the needless subbing of Alby near the end, despite him battering their CBs all game to good effect. Whose idea was that?

Regarding the booing, what I admired about our singers was that as soon as booing commenced, they piped up with a song. A perfect way to drown the boos out.
I have to say that when booing commenced I was mouthing curses. The number of times we gave the ball away after 20 passes or turned attack into a pass back to Sanchez was frightening.

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

So that makes the ‘home’ support less than 1200. Must be quite a while since we had such a low home attendance (not counting the mickey mouse cup games).

1219 home fans last night.

1218 home fans v Maidstone at the same stage three years ago.
