Blackpool redevelopment 17:20 - Feb 25 with 1788 views | Hannibal | Haven’t had a chance to get over there since I’ve been back. Is this £100 million project happening now? I see from the article there’s a new conference centre due to open in August so it must be in good progress by now? Blackpool’s crying out for redevelopment. I would hope any potential new club owners would subscribe to that ethos. Let’s hope there’s some billionaire potential owner in the mix? https://environmentjournal.online/articles/blackpool-confirms-100m-town-centre-r

Blackpool redevelopment on 17:35 - Feb 25 with 1781 views | Lala | Well work on the tram extension has been going on, but can’t say I’ve noticed anything else. The town definitely warrants extensive redevelopment so it’s good, agree. I would like that to go hand in hand with some kind of budget that would focus on rehabilitating some of Blackpool’s most vulnerable drug and alcohol addicts. We need to turn the town and it’s people around and not just leave them behind. We have a well documented drug and alcohol problem in Blackpool , and a rehabilitation centre in the town might be good logistically as well as intensive funding for stay clean and stay dry programmes for post rehab. Have digressed, but not all of the towns problems can be solved with a shiny new hotel, though it’s a start 👠

Growing up in Blackpool, I was always proud of the place. It was a much nicer place than any of the other Lancashire towns, that can't be said now. What a shame. It's going to take a sustained effort to bring it back up.

LALA, so you’ve not noticed the state of the art conference centre or anything else apart from the tram extension? Blimey.

Blackpool redevelopment on 18:49 - Feb 25 with 1764 views | Lala | No. Do you know what, I drive along the prom and park in Debenhams and rarely go much further than Hounds Hill. Only noticed the tram thing because of road works on the prom at Talbot square. Probably only do that once a month and pop into Cleveleys for other stuff or head to Manchester on the train. I spend a lot of my spare time in the Dales or on drives out for the day. I will make a point of going for a wander next time, see what’s going on. [Post edited 25 Feb 2019 18:52]
