I'm not being funny, but Naughton playing at right wing didn't mean he was playing right back as well as Rangel. He was playing right wing even though he usually a right back. And he did pretty well. |
Sorry Lisa got to disagree, we had a line of 4 at the back and a line of 5 in midfield just in front (naughty was part of the 5) with Botja on his own up front. Totally defensive set up to stop them playing through us and to try and catch them on the counter...which we didn't.

Despite Guidolin's faults, Jenkins needs to go for making Guidolin work with his hands tied behind his back by not strengthening the squad.
Guidolin has reverted back to when he first arrived here, by trying to play safety first which isn't gonna work in the Premier League or with the squad we've got. | |

They should be concerned over the side struggling start to the season, but they shouldn't be surprised, the quality of the squad is deteriorating.
My take is that Guidolin knows the score and that he's trying to make the best of what he's got at his disposal, the defensive tactics are to shore up the back 4 and mask some weaknesses in that area. It's ok to play like that if you carry a goal threat and have the ability to counter attack with lightening speed, sadly as things stand we don't have that threat at the moment.
How many of our players have not been criticised re their form on this forum recently, nearly all have, some aren't good enough and some are out of form..
in terms of wingers and last night, Dyer is out injured, Barrow allegedly unwell and Montero also not fully fit, which limits his options especially with Saturday on the horizon.
FG has inherited the bulk of his squad and he can only work with what he's got. | | | |

Guidolin will always be the fall guy. The finger should be pointing at Huw Jenkins. Recruitment has not been good enough and this has contributed to our downfall. [Post edited 22 Sep 2016 12:02]
