Pheww some positive news at last

Poll: Can Montero do it on a rainy Saturday afternoon?

Finally some good news.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.
Poll: Should Dippy Drakeford do us all a massive favour and just bog off?

Is that actually gylfi saying that? Where I grew up, Instagram was a fast cocaine delivery service.

Great news. I'm sure he will have been reassured about players coming in before he's committed to that contract. Hopefully the start of a good week

In all seriousness, probably THE most important bit of business this summer.

I believe Ash and Ayew would / will be much easier to replace than Gylfi.

Great news and nobody has left yet that we didn't want to go. Chins up all!

I tend agree but Ayews goals are critical to us. Siggy can't do it all by himself.

great news non the less, siggy is quality, I'm staggered that monk had him sitting on the bench.

Certainly the most important so far. Although getting Gomis' wages off the books runs it a close second.

I think I agree - he would be very difficult to replace.

wonderful.

we are very lucky that Brendan coveted him on loan that first year in the premier league. you could look all over the transfer market and not find such a hard working, creative, and essential player.

Agree that Ayew's goals were critical last year but if he does go then I'm sure we will find another striker that can get us 12 goals playing in front of Gylfi.

Not saying I would be happy to see Ayew go but it would have been a hundred times worse if Gylfi was on his way.

Good news.

I think Siggy is an intelligent person so hopefully this is a sign that there are some new players lined up.

The club should be shouting this from the rooftops.

You'd think so wouldn't you, can't see Siggy signings a new contract unless he's had some sort of reassurance, money talks though l suppose.

Gylfi and Ayew didn't play well for us at the same times last season. Ayew was on fire when we were playing really awful football under Monk, and Gylfi was taking a lot of stick on here.

Gylfi came good after Guidolin arrived (and Shelvey fcked off), and between then and the last few games Ayew didn't contribute a huge amount.

Finding someone who can play with Gylfi will make all the difference.

Agree with this. Until he was played as the main striker, Ayew tended to get in Gylfi's way too much which affected both of them.

If we can bring in a striker who can build the kind of relationship with Gylfi that Bony had, that would be fantastic.

You're right of course. Ayew lessons Gylfi's impact and generally causes confusion across the front line. With Gylfi and our wingers we don't need a particularly mobile striker, we need a powerhouse.

An old fashioned number 9 who's good in the air, will keep the centre halves busy and others can feed off - you can see why we're looking at Ulloa.
