Sunderland v Swansea CIty - Official Match Thread on 17:02 - Aug 22 by Drizzy | You've been round long enough to know that there was no way we were gonna strut into the Stadium of Light and waltz away with a 0-3 win as so many predicted. You got carried away with the reported "crisis talks" at Sunderland and conveniently forgot that only two, I repeat two, games had been played. |
I'm not pleased at all, but I thought this would happen. Although my acca did come in to the tune of £98 as a result.

Sunderland v Swansea CIty - Official Match Thread on 16:59 - Aug 22 by AnotherJohn | An away point isn't a bad result, but that was a missed opportunity. How we lost the 2nd half I do not know. We missed good chances and then ended up hanging on. One worry is that the ball did not 'stick' upfront after Gomis went off. At half-time I was thinking we'd be top four tonight, so can't help feeling a tad disappointed. |
I honestly have no idea why that change was made. We were well on top despite that dull equaliser and Gomis had just nearly won it. Not unhappy, just a bit 'meh'. I don't think they'll be getting many points this season. We were a class better.

Ran it into a draw. Immobile in defence, dribbled too often, gave the ball away cheaply, more hollywood passes than the last two games put together. Ash got bullied out there, too. Lucky he had Fernandez covering his fat arse.
Sunderland v Swansea CIty - Official Match Thread on 17:06 - Aug 22 with 2083 views | JFSwan | 2 Points dropped. Ayew hit the post, Gomis unlucky. Once Sunderland equalised we struggled to deal with the momentum swing, Lens had the beating of Naughton every time towards the end. Fernandez caught out of position for the goal with a lapse in concentration. Anyway, an away point to carry forwards.

Confidence is believing we can go up there and beat them. Arrogance is making comments such as "I'll buy everyone a pint if we lose this one." Big difference.

Totally agree, time to give Grimes a run out, although some might say Gylfi runs his heart out, I don't think he can play his usual role with Ayew coming in from the right, I think it's Grimes time.

Honestly? I never thought we were in any trouble at all and they got a spawn break. Everything we do that was good went through Shelvey or Cork. Sundeland and (please god) West Ham won't escape this year.

Whatever dark satanic rituals Dick & Co practised during their 'emergency team meeting' last Sunday seemed like it was going to pay off; There can't be a goat left alive on Wearside. This Sunderland team is possibly the worst team I've seen in our time in the top-flight. They are going to be relegated, despite their thuggish point today - they are an awful, awful football team. Dick knows it, all their fans know it, and their board know it. As such, a shame not to get the 3 points we deserved. [Post edited 22 Aug 2015 18:31]

Exactly. Apart from their goal which came from a punt upfield Fabianski didn't have to make a save. Come to think of it he didn't make a save for the goal either.

I'm still not sure about Ayew. He leaves Naughton (not the best defender to begin with) very exposed and without attacking support, and does seem to block off a lot of Gylfi's natural runs. He huffed and puffed a lot today but didn't produce. Really poor shooting and no penetration on his passes. Of course if he nods in one of the chances he got I don't say any of this. Maybe it's time to try him at 10 and let Routledge or Dyer return on the right to help the team's shape.

I tend to agree. At the moment, much as I wish I didn't I don't think there's a place for Ayew and Sig. It's like when JDG was stuck on the wing. We are hobbling ourselves unnecessarily. I like both of them though, so I'm hoping it can be sorted.

Ayew tucks away his header that hit the post.. Pantilimon has a mare.. Swans run away as 4-1 winners etc.. your opinion would be different

Made me smile that. Given time (and beer) I'll be content with the point but I am gutted that a lapse of concentration in a game we dominated cost us the win we so richly deserved.
