Trabzonspor Demand Southampton Lower Price For Striker Monday, 10th Jun 2024 12:15 Turkish side Trabzonspor are keen to sign Tall Pall Onuachu on a permanent basis, the only problem is that their valuation is far below that of Saints, not mention his wages and there is also the little matter of Goztepe watching with interest. Tall Paul Onuachu has spent the season on loan with Trabzonspor and has been a success notching 15 goals plus 4 assists in only 21 Turkish Super Lig appearances, they understandably are keen to keep him, but there is the little question of money, in simple terms there is not much in Turkish football and a lot in the Premier League and with Saints now back in the top flight they are not so desperate to sell as they might have been if they had not been promoted. This is bad news for Trabzonspor who had been hoping to get him on the cheap, whilst Saints are looking to recoup a fair chunk of the £13 million or so they paid for his services. There is also the little question of wages, his salary at St Mary's is higher than he would get in Turkey. Now insidefutball.com are suggesting that the Turks have reopened talks between the two clubs, but are demanding that Southampton lower their asking price. They say that Trabzonspor are preparing various different options for Saints to accept, presumably both on a permanent basis or on loan. Saints will prefer a straight sale, but with more interest in Turkey from Besiktas as well as Goztepe who are of course owned by Sport Republic and are described as our sister club, they are not short on options to offload. Southampton would probably prefer interest from one of the bigger Leagues in Europe, were the clubs can afford to pay the going rate, as well as get somewhere near the wages Onuachu is currently on. The word is that Saints are after around £10 million for the striker and from his scoring record in Belgium and now Turkey that would seem a bargain, but this is seemingly too much for Trabzonspor. Saints would want to avoid another loan deal, although they got about £1.5 million from Trabzonspor for the season just gone, if he goes on loan for another season then that would see him aged 31 and with just a year left on his contract. If Saints are not going to get the right deal from Trabzonspor, then it would seem they are likely to want him to move to Goztepe, where they can help out their sister club, rather than be short changed elsewhere, Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
