Puel Sacked Wednesday, 14th Jun 2017 22:00 Southampton Football Club issue official statement 10pm Wednesay night. It was short and sweet and too the point.
Southampton Football Club can today confirm that it has terminated the contract of Claude Puel with immediate effect.
Everyone at Southampton would like to express our thanks to Claude for his hard work and commitment this year. The highlight of the season was a memorable day at Wembley in the EFL Cup Final, a day our fans will always treasure.
We wish Claude well for the future.
The search for a new management team is underway. We are confident that we will find the right fit in line with the long term vision of the club.
A brief statement from the club, however is this linked with the proposed investment from Lander Holdings and will we see a chain reaction of events.

Time to be optimistic I reckon. Tuschel in, takeover completed, £50m transfer kitty without selling any of our best players. European qualificiation next season. Onwards and upwards!

You could write down a list of positives and negatives for the season with the development of some of the younger players or existing squad a massive plus but it just got so boring. I don't get to the game too often but those matches on sky against Liverpool and Man U were awful, yes in some ways they were good points but please try and win the games not just not lose! Moving on, if we can keep Virgil for one more year, sign a creative midfielder and another quality centre back we could have a really good team next year. I reckon it is new kit today and new manager tomorrow.

I think Claude Puel has been hard done by but putting that to one side why has it taken us a month to sack him? In the meantime potential replacement managers have been signed up by other teams and, if you believe the media, a large number of our players are looking for moves with the uncertainty no doubt a factor. By the time we sell Virgil van Dijk his obvious replacement, Harry MaGuire, will have been snapped up by Leicester. Why the procrastination? It's costing us big time.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Leyton Orient Polls |
