England Washout Could Benefit Saints
England Washout Could Benefit Saints

Saints could be helped in their bid to pick up their first away point of the season on Saturday by the washout in Poland.

Perhaps the biggest danger for Saints on Saturday against West Ham United is Andy Carroll, but their cause has been helped due to the tall strikers involvement with England this week.

The washout in Poland means that Carroll will have been stuck in Poland for an extra night, could take part in a game on a heavy pitch and wont return to his club till Friday morning, probably a little worse for the wear after the trip.

Todays top footballlers dont like to rough it, gone are the days when they travelled everywhere by coach, often long journeys and if they stayed in a hotel it wasnt exactly the Ritz, they are pampered and cosseted and if something upsets their routine they dont like it.

So perhaps Andy Carroll wont be feeling at his freshest after his little jaunt to the old Eastern Bloc and as small an advantage as that might be, with our away form we will take any little help we can get to break our away duck.

But on our side, Yoshida is having to fly back from a friendly in Japan. Not ideal preparation.

But Yoshida played on Tuesday and Davis yesterday and both not on a waterlogged pitch so still an advantage.

First class travel. First class hotel. No problem these days. Suppose he may catch cold day on the bench lol.

But Carroll is going to tear us to shreds even if he gets back on Saturday morning and has a double sausage mcmuffin for breakfast!

I know we all seek some crumbs of comfort, but I am afraid that this story looks like we are clutching at straws. Hopefully we will get a win because we were the better team and we have suddenly sorted our defence out and taken our opportunities when they arise. We have to hope.
