Goalkeepers Are Being Linked
Goalkeepers Are Being Linked
Wednesday, 13th Jun 2012 03:11

Saints are being linked with a number of goalkeepers all of whom would be considered first choice including Craig Gordon and Robert Green.

Of course it could all be agents talk and we all know how they like to spread rumours in order to stimulate business, but equally it could be that word is out that Saints are in the market for anew first team keeper.

But at the moment it's all speculation and only the coming weeks will tell what Nigel Adkins intentions are in this area.

SFC have made clear they are looking at options in the goalkeeping department.
That may seem harsh on Kelvin Davis, but it is the nature of the game that sentimentality does not figure in their appraisal of the squad and it's needs in the Premier.
The quality of the keepers that are being associated wit the club is a testament to how serious the club is considering their options.
Green, Gordon and Butland are all in their respective national squads, and no doubt the clubs interest doesn't stop at those 3 keepers.
If, as it seems, you disreguard Forcast as an option. the club has only one viable keeper, which is clearly not acceptable going into the Premier League.

I would choose all women ahead of Craig Gordon and Robert Green, as well!

As most Premiership clubs have 3 keepers in their 25 man 1st team squad I wonder if we will be signing 2 more keepers. Forecast is just not good enough and young Jack Dovey has been released.

Robert Green? Do me a favour, why would West Ham release him if they thought he was any good. Good shot stopper but nowhere near premier league standard when it comes to howlers.
I would pick any woman over him Nick.............

I am impressed with the quality of the players we have been linked with. I still don't believe Kelvin has been highlighted as a second choice keeper as such, but we need to have very strong competition going on for the top spot. Kelvin would expect this as he's been in the job long enough to expect to fight for his place.

HORNDEAN... "Robert Green? Do me a favour, why would West Ham release him if they thought he was any good."

West Ham had no choice, Robert Green told them no matter what they offered he would be leaving at the end of his contract last January.
Hence them getting Henderson in
Yet they rated Green so highly they still played in preference to Henderson throughout their promotion run in and playoffs
Say what you like he is currently the No2 in the England squad, so to suggest he is not good enough for us is very arrogant on our part.

Beg to differ Patred but respect your opinion. I just hope I never need to say "I told you so"

Besides, £50k a week? If that is to be believed, he is just the sort of end of career greedy bar steward that we neither need nor want.

all of 'women'

come on, FFS. I can accept the odd spelling mistake or typo, but this is just not on.
