Looks like Billy Sharp is heading to St Mary's
All football media outlets (apart from Saints official site) are saying that Billy Sharp is at St mary's now and subject to a medical will be signing later today, this is great news for Saints fans, in that he will hopefully be the foil up front we need to get our season back on track.
But its not just the signing of Sharp and putting him in the team, it would be the knock on effect throughout the side, it would enable us to put Guly back into the right side of midfield where he was so effective earlier in the season, if we do that it will restore some much needed balance to the side, not only that though it will also allow Tadanari Lee to be given a chance to aclimatise and be used sparingly rather than thrown in at the deep end.
All in all the type of signing that will excite Saints supporters, another piece in the jigsaw, all we need now is to get in an experienced central defender although latest reports suggest Danny Collins cant agree terms, however the same thing was said about harp a few weeks back.

Although it is probably true it will not be on the OS website until he actually signs. That is the way Saints do things they only put it on the website when it happens. I think the only time they announced a deal before the player signed was in the case of Tadanari Lee as there were concerns over his elegibility.

Does this mean that Connelly and/or Barnard are on they way out? We can't have them all sitting on the bench. I'm excited about Sharp but will be sad if the others go as they've both contributed to our rise up the leagues.

Also available for the FA Cup, as he did not play in Doncasters defeat in the last round

This would be a massive signing for the Saints & I agree this would enable Lee to get his feet in the English game, as we do not want to rely on this unknown quantity before he has settled in, a bad start at a club can turn into a failure [Torres, Carroll etc, the latter may yet turn it round], of course that means that Sharp would need to fit in but I trust in NA to make this happen.

Good signing which shows commitment. Now for a strong defender, then give it a real crack at promotion.

The signing of Billy Sharp is good in so many ways, he's a proven goalscorer with ambition, it shows Saints intent and lastly a more competition for places, so some players will need to up their game! From what Nigel Adkins said after the game on Saturday, I believe he intimated that there would be more than one signing, I would hope for an experienced very good central defender, and possibly someone in the mold of Paul Scholes in midfield. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow night COYR!

A good signing I'm sure. As for Connelly I reckon he will still get appearances and then he is out of contract in the summer. Barney's future looks more dodgy what with his injuries and upcoming court appearance.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Leyton Orient Polls |
