Unfortunately this seems to be the case. It's very sad that we don't have any politicians with the balls to sort it out.

I didn't panic, I spent a week thinking about it but the FTSE100 at over 6500 made my mind up for me. It will be down at around 5700 at some time in the next year & that's when I'll reinvest. I can live without dividends in the meantime.

I've just sold my entire portfolio as well. I'll be quite happy to hold it in bank accounts paying 1-1.5% interest until the market makes its inevitable adjustment for life outside the EU.

If it was me I'd do what I always do in Europe Pat. I'd get about £200 worth of Euros from Tesco or the Post Office a week in advance and then use a debit card in a cash machine abroad for the rest and possibly a credit card for restaurant bills etc.

I would never use a credit card in a cash machine here or abroad by the way, as there is no interest free period. You start paying interest the second you draw your cash out.

We seem to agree on that too. The Euro was and is a nonsense as you say. It has helped the Med countries milk the tourists as it put up the price of everything in restaurants and bars in resorts but that's about it.

My SIPP (100% UK based patriotic equities) is doing just fine at present thanks.

Well it may not be the choice I wanted but we do have to be successful and I'm sure we will. I'm all for us losing the EU bureaucracy.

I think the future of Europe could be an enlarged EFTA ie the EU without Brussels or pretensions of a Federal state which would be a great result. I just hope it doesn't tip Europe into a disastrous recession en route.

Nice plan but I'm not convinced it would work. Don't forget they're scared shitless that if they concede too much to us , a lot of other countries will be queuing up at the exit door.

Philip Hammond seems a decent type too. I don't know why we didn't hear more from him.

What we need is someone fairly sensible and reasonable who can wring the necessary concessions out of the EU. Although Farage's speech there was amusing, the likes of him and Boris would have merely made them determined to screw us.

I agree. Alastair Campbell said yesterday that he thought Boris was hoping for a narrow Remain win so that Cameron was mortally wounded and he (Boris) could take over.

Just seen Nigel Farage worrying that Brexit has been betrayed. Unfortunately as he only has one MP he'll be powerless to do anything about it.

"It is said that those who voted Leave were mainly driven by anxieties about immigration. I do not believe that is so."

'Boris Johnson says the UK will continue to "intensify" cooperation with the EU and tells his fellow Leave supporters they must accept the 52-48 referendum win was "not entirely overwhelming".

The pro-Leave campaign head, says "the only change" will be to free the country from the EU's "extraordinary and opaque" law, which "will not come in any great rush". '

I think you may well be right on that.

It's a bit ironic that in order to be allowed to continue to trade in Europe without tariffs by membership of EFTA, the EU will demand that we still allow free movement of individuals as they did with Norway.
