I think they'll struggle next season.

Where are all the moneybags Swansea splash the cash headlines?

Swansea City in their 21,000 seater stadium etc etc

I've never seen Bony play but strikers from the Dutch league are always a gamble - Kalou, Afonso Alves, Kezman, Kuyt all scored tonnes of goals in the Erediviste but we're a mixed bag in the prem.

I think they'll struggle to reach the expectations their fans will have of them after last season but I expect them to finish mid-table comfortably. Bony is a big gamble at that price for a club like Swansea, I'd have thought trying to snatch Kone from under Everton's nose would be a better bet

The difference being that Swansea have not been in a relegation scrap since getting promoted, won a trophy and steadily built a squad able to compete in the Premier League without panic buying a load of mercenaries. They've also made decent money of selling a couple of players they felt they could do without (Joe Allen & Danny Graham)

Oh and they employ decent managers too it seems.

Basically they are everything QPR should be and are not. Good luck to them, if anyone deserves a bit of a spend it's them, they aint half earnt that right.

This.

Good age and strong record, I am sure they have done their homework and Michu off Bony up front loks like it has goals in it. Still a huge gamble though for that amount.

Shelvey aside I think they have done good business again, not lost any key players, will have Neil Taylor back who they didnt miss too much cos the boy stepped up well but is a really solid FB and they have De Guzman on loan again. I think Canas is a good player too. Best of luck to them.

I've seen him play a couple of times on the telly and he reminds me of Drogba (I've been pretty pi ssed both times, though, so it could be that he's nothing like him) Certainly has a very good reputation in the Netherlands and I think he was expected to join a CL-level club, so Swansea might have pulled off a major coup...but as others have said, scoring goals in the Eredivisie is no gaurantee that you can do it in England.

Their purchases this close season sound a lot like ours this time last year. We had a squad that was fairly well bonded and instead we brought in high paid names with flashy CVs. I hope they have a better time of it than we did because, apparently, those sorts of purchases can ruin a team's unity and spirit. Or so I'm told!

I really don't think this can be compared with our policy of buying every wreck, crock, head-case, has-been or never-was from a big club.

They are in discussions with the council regarding the ground extension, on top of that if I'm perfectly honest I'm jealous of the position they find themselves in.
They seem to be doing things the right way.

In addition to the money they've made from transfers there's the fact that every Prem club can afford far more with the lavish TV deal. I doubt very much Swansea have put anything at risk in making this signing and even if they have I'll wager they put a lot more thought and research into it than any of the transfers we've made recently.

Good luck to them I say. A player like Bony is exactly what they were missing and if he's anything as capable as he's looked in Holland they'll do very well.

Also don't forget when they sold Danny Graham (for whom Sunderland will now be lucky to get 500 grand let alone the 5m they paid) Swansea didn't rush out and buy anyone for the sake of it. They held onto their money, made do with Michu up front and waited until this opportunity came up now.
