This is the truth, apparently alleged, but he's been found rapping.

I am sure the 19yr old girl he raped will find this hilarious.

PS: 5 years is not enough. He will be out in half that and playing for Notts County, no doubt!

I wonder how much detail has been released of this. Granted I haven't been following the case but Clayton McDonald who also had sex with her has been found not guilty?

Yep.

Only Evans going down.

That's juries for you. Both admit having sex, both deny it was rape. The jury find one guilty and clear the other defendant.

However, without having heard any of the evidence it is difficult to make any useful suggestion.

Got any better suggestions than juries, SL? Star Chamber, perhaps?

How does Clayton Mac walk away from this, surely he was there when CE was commiting the rape and just did nothing? or did he leave when Ched arrived.

Either way vile human being!

In no way were my comments meant as a criticism of the jury system BJ, nor would I advocate a change to the system that has served us well, in the main, for 800 years.

I merely made an observation about their sometimes apparently 'eccentric' collective decisions.

As I said, I haven't been privy to any of the evidence, so it's difficult to comment on the verdict, other than the manner in which it has been reported, which, of course, aims to sell newspapers.

Apparently McDonald had consensual (and she admitted that) sex. But then he invited his mate Ched round to have a go on her (just a really weird thing to do... what guy would do that?) and that certainly wasn't consensual.

What an idiot - he deserves the sentence he got. And he will regret what he did for the rest of his life.

To be even more pedantic, you have missed out the word "guilty". As he has been found guilty, you can now omit "allegedly" as well. In this case it would become a statement, and not a joke. What was your intention?

If she's admitted to it then why was he up for rape?

That's not a go at the post, not read the story fully, just wondering!

The strange thing is that they found him guilty because the girl was in a terrible drunken state and was in no position to consent. The judge said he took advantage. In those circumstances surely his mate was doing the same? Or maybe she was asleep or something when Ched joined in.

Shocking nonetheless

Pity the trial wasn't before we played them

I know its no excuse for what Evans/McDonald did but these girls put themselves vunerable in these situations with all the drink, drinking themselves into a coma almost, that said, it wasnt right they took advantage like that.

There are situations that you hear about in regards to 'rape' charges by a lot of young girls against footballers, often for the publicity, but this been first one convicted for a good while.

Ive never been a fan of Evans so good riddence imo, although he'll be out in 2 1/2 years and probably scoring in Nottingham/Coventry and the likes, just hope not at our club/s.

would be surprised if McDonald is at Vale next year, even if he's been found 'not guilty' would you want someone like that at Dale hanging over you.

Not sure you can have a pop at the Port Vale lad. He has been found not guilty and everybody deserves another chance. If we knew what some of our friends and workmates got up to behind closed doors we would be shocked. You can't impose moral judgements on people such that they lose their job when they are not guilty of anything however much as you find their sex life inappropriate.

I'm just going by what effect it could have at the club, nothing to do with him as a person, but people are already questioning how he got away free, and this could reflect badly on Port Vale.

He'd have to agree to leaving though...otherwise he could claim wrongful/constructive dismissal as TECHNICALLY he hasn't done anything wrong!

With regards to the case, as someone's said previously, it's hard to comment without hearing all of the evidence but there are a few things that don't add up. It's important to remember that no matter how drunk someone gets/how provocatively they dress etc no-one is ever 'asking to be raped'...it's a phrase that gets thrown around a lot these days and hearing it makes me sick to my stomach.

Anyway...for the most part, I have faith in our judicial system (despite it's obvious flaws) and trust that the right decision was made. It's a shame that such a promising career has been permanently tarnished but he has no-one to blame but himself...I hope the decision gives the girl some degree of comfort and that she can hopefully try to rebuild her life

Actually, LEGALLY, he has done nothing wrong, because he been CLEARED of any guilt.
