I guess most of us got the email from the club about the r@nt boys chant. Hopefully it will now be put to bed,or changed to ch@lsea are w@kners and it would be more accurate.

Judging by the number of responses, it looks like it was just you they felt they needed to talk to

Well, the chant definitely hasn't been put to bed, sadly. Got sung a lot yesterday, along with 'we'll sing what we want'..

Although sung a few times it was by no means sung by everyone.

You're right, but it was definitely sung more frequently than at a normal away game. And the first airing of it was pretty early in the game too.
Predictable really. Telling people not to sing a particular song just makes some people want to sing it even more.

Exactly. I just hope they don't start singing that awful song about me having a colossal penis and being a tower of attraction to women again.

Ahem.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

I have to agree

I don't know why they sent the email out anyway as it was sung more yesterday than at any other time this season

Assuming that's what the tannoy announcement was about aswell

Don't know the song, don't think I've ever heard it, don't really care to be honest. Though I did find the repetitive nonsense at Brighton away rather annoying a few years back.

That was the first time I've heard that song sung for months yesterday, I'm not sure the club's email had the desired effect

I thought the tannoy announcement was about sitting in your correct seat as there was overcrowding in the back rows in the corner, and our fans were singing “We’ll sit where we want.”
A few police came up the stairs, but soon left.

I'm told that a number went up to the back because, for as bad as the viewing was, it was worse low down.

I think you will find that song was originally sung about me mate!

Think the most appropriate song for yesterday would have been the Leicester fans singing ‘We can’t see you sneaking out’. 😀

What, 'Connell's got a massive cock, it's like a draft excluder...' to the tune of Ode To Joy?

I've got to admit, it's catchy. I was actually thinking of 'Trip hazard penis, he's got a trip hazard penis...' to the tune of Guantanamera.

Either way, don't sing it, everyone.

Yeah that was separate. Both were sung (both singing and sitting!)

Edit - sorry, quoted the wrong post

I had a look at the clock when it got its first airing...2 minutes and 25 seconds was all it took. Predictable really when they sent that email out.

The tannoy announcement was relating to people standing in stairwells and crowding around the back, rather than any chanting.

Yeah it was about not sitting in your designated seat. Call me old and grumpy but the (mainly) yoof that want to do that get right on my wick. If I've paid for a seat then I want to sit in the seat I was given. I saw some older fans who couldn't get a seat because of it, they refused to move. Bullies, really. Bah!

Whenever my seat is near the back its a ballache as if I'm lucky enough to get to it I know a load of people are gonna just push us along and you are left 2 people to a seat
It only seems to have happened the last few seasons since covid, I'm often told it's an awayday innit so we stand where we want, it's not just kids either is quite odd

I'd be surprised if the club weren't asked/made to send that email, Dave.

And they were probably asked to send it by Chelsea too.
Seeing as they were the original complainants that some big boys were singing nasty songs about them.

yeah, exactly. I think the club needs to sort it out or liaise in some way with the home club. It makes it unpleasant and a hassle not knowing if you can get your own seat.

I had a nightmare at Luton, ended up literally sharing 2 standing places amongst 4 with a fellow father and (adult) son who had been pushed out of their seat.

Only applies at a packed away end, I wasn't bothered at Burnley :-)

It definitely seems to be a post-Covid thing. It happened to us up at Leeds. We were in the front row of one of the blocks but had to squeeze up to allow a load of middle aged blokes to stand where they wanted. I felt for the family near us who couldn't see because some of the said middle aged blokes stood right in front of them in the gangway because "we stand where we farking want". Shame the kids behind them didn't get to see the game - or maybe not in fat case.
