2 keepers on bench today 18:11 - Oct 26 with 10870 views | stainrods_elbow | Personally, I found that completely bewildering and professionally unacceptable from Cifuentes. Assuming Dembele, Fox and Kolli weren't all injured - though who knows these days when a reported blackhead could keep any one of our players out for weeks - if I were the board, I'd be having a word on Monday morning. That was a load of turd! Edit: https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/2024/october/26/cifuentes-post-burnley/ OK - perhaps I jumped the gun a bit! But these minor injuries and twinges are getting ridiculous, it seems to me. [Post edited 26 Oct 18:22]

2 keepers on bench today on 22:18 - Oct 27 with 2069 views | Northernr | All of this is, again, a product of being less than open in your coms. If you go out at a fans forum and say we're just swimming in options, nothing more to it than that with Kolli, and then a month later your manager is registering some 24-year-old nobody as a second goalkeeper to make a full bench at Burnley away... people are going to notice that.

2 keepers on bench today on 22:26 - Oct 27 with 2037 views | mart_Goblin | I said on the match thread just before kick off that I just don’t buy the ‘not taking enough players’ excuse . If you have players struggling after training on Friday morning then you take extra in case . I strange things are a foot no matter what MC / Nourry etc say.

Agree, and same. I mean, just name a short bench even. We've done that multiple times before. It felt like a point being made somewhere.
2 keepers on bench today on 22:37 - Oct 27 with 1960 views | LongRanger | There maybe issues, who knows…but what is the point in taking players who you know you wouldn’t put on the pitch whatever happens, just to fill a bench, that is far bigger than it ever needs to be.

Im probably being thick here but why was the emergency loan for a goal keeper, that's the part I don't get?

Less than honest comms is a product of less than honest individuals. The two typically go hand in hand in life. And as the saying goes, every lie is a debt to the truth that eventually must be paid.
2 keepers on bench today on 02:18 - Oct 28 with 1724 views | numptydumpty | Why have we taken a keeper on loan. We have signed a decent keeper in Nardi, Walsh looks to be decent and we have Murphy loaned out and he has not disappointed previously when called upon. Some say the development keeper Salamon has potential too. What a waste of money. But he must have been superb in training. On the bench from day one. The loan makes zero sense in a position currently we ok for... I did not agree with Clive about announcement of contract lengths etc but weird choices are happening and with no one saying anything it's beginning to look like a cover up. I did think they would be open about some decisions but nothing is explained. The fans are getting restless Nourry !! [Post edited 28 Oct 2:19]

Not that it makes much any/difference, but he has not been signed on an emergency loan. Or a loan of any type. We have signed him on a short term contract (I don't know, but I'm assuming until January) as he was an out of contract player. Why we needed to sign another goalkeeper I have no idea! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

If you named a short bench and then your keeper gets injured in the warm up or in the first minute and you have to make a change, you are starting to think what if and why didn't we? Slim chance and unlikely but stranger things have happened at the Rrrrrs. Remember the Warburton season when our keepers were falling like nine pins.😬

Well we'd better put two keepers on there every week in that case then.

You also would have needed to do that before midday on Friday for him to be eligible on Saturday, so when exactly did we sign this guy?

I have no idea when Shepperd signed for us, but I did read somewhere, I don't remember where, that he was signing for us some weeks ago.

I heard his name some time back as well, Oslo, I think when Salamon was injured. I've no problem with this as you need a certain amount of goalies for training, if nothing else. Again, yet again, the poor comms has led to a problem for Nourry when really this should not be a problem.

2 keepers on bench today on 11:28 - Oct 28 with 1291 views | gazza1 | Sure, it is strange for us to have 2 keepers on the bench. Not sure I understand why tbh. What I will say is I recon both Fox would have played LB & Dembele may have been included as well. As for Koli - recon that he is finished at Rangers and rightly so if he is misbehaving, he isn't that good anyway.

2 keepers on bench today on 21:21 - Oct 27 by Northernr | On its own, nothing. In the general picture of what's going on at the moment, a bit strange. If you knew Fox and Dembele were struggling, you'd take Kolli along wouldn't you? If indeed the only reason he's not involved is because we've got loads and loads of better players ahead of him? |
Cifuentes clearly stated in the post match interview that the medical team told him before they travelled they though both Fox and Dembele would be fine for Saturday: based on this he wouldn’t expect neither to be available and have to bring another player in. Turns out the medical team were wrong and neither player were fit enough. Are some people claiming that Cifuentes was lying or being forced to say this? Very odd.

Naming two keepers on the bench is the footballing equivalent of the hostage blinking twice during the prepared statement.

Two things. 1) Why did Shepherd travel in the first place? At best, in case Walsh or Nardi got injured in the warm up. Neither did. So why was he included on the bench with zero chance of playing? We don’t need to fill the bench and occasionally don’t. 2) Two outfield players were 100% fit on Friday (no cover needed to travel at all, in case one didn’t feel right on the day…). But then on the day further tests were done and neither were fit enough to even be named on the bench. Why were they doing further Tests? Because they weren’t 100% fit to play. They don’t do Tests on every player on the match day. They knew they were doubts. Doesn’t say much for the Physios and club doctor that their diagnosis was so wrong 24 hrs earlier if they thought they were 100% likely to play. Ultimately, there was no need for a 2nd keeper to be named on the bench. And there was an obvious, common sense need to take a spare outfield player from the EDS just in case one of those two didn’t pass the matchday tests planned. We didn’t do the latter and we did do the former. GroveR is right, it’s a message, whatever post match statement was read out.
2 keepers on bench today on 12:08 - Oct 28 with 1144 views | derbyhoop | If you have 2 outfield players feeling a bit on Friday afternoon, why not get somebody from the DS to travel late Friday. Just in case. A train ticket + 1 night in a hotel can't cost as much as a complete loss of credibility.

Isn't what good??? It isn't just about playing on the football pitch, its about his attitude around the Club and from what I read his Father isn't helping at all and, perhaps, his son has similar attitude. He is not that good to be a 'pest' around the Club anyways. IMHO he will be released. Why is 'new Ceo and his clandestine ways are really getting on my tits'?? Do you actually know what is going on with him??

You are presuming that the physio's were looking or testing Fox & Dembele, perhaps the players themselves said they were struggling at or after the final training session which may have been a lot closer to match conditions........and, hence, were not selected. As for 3 keepers - strange.

1) Manchester City named 2 keepers on the bench on Saturday: these were part of a total of 7 subs out of 9 possible. I’m sure Man City fans are not analysing the hell out of that like we are. 2) Fox and Dembele were not 100% before travelling but Cifuentes says he was told both would be fine for match day which turned out to be incorrect. Even if ONE of them turned out to ok then problem solved as he would’ve been on the bench instead of extra keeper and this storm in a teacup wouldn’t have happened at all. Don’t think there’s a ‘message’ at all apart from the medical team needing to raise their game.
