Where are the Sams? 11:21 - Feb 18 with 2777 viewsDrigdale

On Feb 1st the club announced the signings of Sam Murray and Sam Mather from Man Utd. It looked as though we had pulled off a bit of a coup and I for one was looking forward to seeing these 2 obviously talented players appearing for us.
Fast forward almost 3 weeks and 3 fixtures and they are nowhere to be seen. In fact i cannot recall any mention of them on the official site.
What is the point if they are not going to play? It completely baffles me and I would love to hear a valid reason.

https://www.manutd.com/en/amp/news/detail/man-utd-academy-quartet-leave-in-innov

Each of the players will continue to train and be able to play for United’s Under-21s group, while benefiting from the experience and challenges of non-league football intermittently throughout the remainder of the season. They will enjoy a greater volume of games and a more diverse range of experiences.

The opportunity to still train and play games for the Academy means that the players will benefit from a bespoke and flexible programme, with coaches able to make decisions on their schedule week-by-week.

Based on that article, we are told if they can play or not.

Looking at the pitches at Altrincham and yesterday I’m unsurprised that two of United’s prospects aren’t being risked on heavy uneven pitches.

Sam Mather was sent off in the under 21 derby tonight, probably explains why we didnt have him for the weekend. On another note, does that suspension carry over to us?

It should just apply to EPL2.

Looking at Man United U21's next games they plan on playing:
* 1st March
* 8th March
* 18th March

Those look to clash with our run of fixtures and normal recovery times, other than Chesterfield at the weekend, meaning I don't think they'll play in both competitions.

We've probably arranged game time for them once we've got nothing to play for - although the way things are going they wont be getting any game time in that case as we will be fighting relegation now.

Again, another question for the fans forum a week on Thursday and another perfectly valid one.
