Electricity bill.... 12:42 - Nov 22 with 3185 views | 49thseason | Whilst waiting for KO last night, I wondered if the club might not be better off buying a generator.. As I am not an electrician, the complexities escape me but there are some fairly big diesel generators selling as new,for £10-15k . And as our main sponsor Crown Oil now sells " green diesel" might it be possible to lower our energy bill fairly substantially by bringing in a generator and running it with Green Diesel with Crown Oil's help? You would imagine the opportunities for Crown oil to promote their product would be useful and the reduction in bills at the club would be more than welcome and on-going. https://www.crownoil.co.uk/products/hvo-fuel-hydrotreated-vegetable-oil/

Changing light fittings and using new generation bulbs cuts circa 30% off the bill - but there is always an outlay. But do we have any money to buy a generator or upgrade our installations? I am sure at the Trust AGM on Saturday that Murray said that the directors were still putting cash in to the club on an unsecured basis to keep it going. Doesn't look like we do to me. There was a thread on here about 3 weeks ago where we debated the merits of a 2 or 3 year contract given that commercial electricity prices have fallen by around half since October 2022. In addition, there would be the issue of storage and a host of other health and safety measures involved in storing diesel in a built up area. Batteries would be the best, charge them up at night at 7.5p., rather than pay peak fees.

You'd need a good few batteries to run a football ground I'd imagine....they also charge these wonderfully "green" electric cars from generators too I've seen, such is the countries blindness to such agendas 👍
