Come to Wales for a break, we will tax you on the way and restrict you to 50mph if you can get to that speed in the traffic, tourist tax when you are there and then charge you on the way back in the traffic. Or you could go to the west country, let me think. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

All thought up by people who don't have to worry about their income. Just like most of their idiotic Covid measures.

I don't see it like the M6. The toll section of the M6 is national speed limit albeit variable but virtually with no hold ups. The reduced speed limit for pollution prevention in Yorkshire is at the recommended limit of 60mph. Totally different to the current Welsh situation and proposals.

With the enforced switch to electric cars looming in the next decade the government is facing a huge drop in revenue from fuel duty so we can expect more and more toll booths popping up in the name of climate measures in the next few years.

If the electric car proposals come in, which I really don't believe will be on schedule, will there be any need for the clean air bill.

There is of course a difference the main M6 does not have tolls. The M6 toll road had been financed by a private company which charges you for using their road. You have the choice use to old M6 pay no tolls or use the slightly quicker new toll road. Perhaps Drakeford could get a private company to build the M4 relief road and charge a toll, payable to the company, to bypass the Brynglas Tunnels.

It seems as if the Welsh media are in bed with these lot with absolutely no questions being asked about the Welsh economy or any sort of accountability... He sets up committees and consultations with unaccountable self serving sanctimonious Marxists but even then just ignores the electorate and the results.. Its a wonder he has not started confiscating holiday homes and giving them to his Marxist supporters..

Well if you just read the title “clean air bill” you would think it’s fantastic. Everyone loves clean air right? But does charging people to use a road they have no choice to use to get to work or visit their families actually have any effect on the cleanliness of air? Does slowing down the traffic to a crawl so cars spend more time on the road and journey times take longer decrease the amount of pollution emitted? Of course not. Any organism with more than 17 brain cells could work this one out. It’s almost as if they’ve deliberately chosen that name “clean air bill” to appeal to aching simpletons who don’t have the capacity to question it. [Post edited 22 Mar 2023 1:54]
