He's not a great manager. We may be getting things right at the moment, but it's taken 70 plus games to get where we are. That's not the sign of a good manager
careful Jack you are disagreeing with so many here
Just back from the game. I wasn't going, didn't get tickets, then my plans changed and I was able to go. A couple of tickets came up last night, so hey ho. Poor start from us. The players looked tired and.half asleep. Lots of wayward passing, we just could not get going. Deserved to be 1-0 down at half time. Second half we settled, and.really got into it after the hour mark, and then improved as the game.went on. In my opinion we deserved a draw a d could have snatched it. We really need to take our chances, we miss so.many. A draw away at Bristol city is a decent result. Good substitutions, Russ has a bit of strength in depth. Piroe is back on Tuesday. The future is bright, the future is Swansea.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

"Started with slow ponderous football " Possibly something to do with Bristol having a bright attacking start and almost being out of sight in the first 20 minutes or so ? As the match wore on we came into it and in the second half Martin changed it around. Not our best day at the office, but give some credit to Bristol City
Yes maybe some credit too should have been given to Brentford when Cooper "threw away" the play off final!
THis is what winds me up and why sometimes I post as I do the inconsistency and "blinkered" views
I wasnt at the game and didnt watch it but from the radio and postings on line and seeing the stats it seems we again reverted to Martinball V1 ...As I said in the first 30 mins Bristol had a third of the possession we enjoyed yet had more corners and attempts at goal yet we "dominated" with the ball

I agree I should have put "great"
We are top 6 and it's October. This league is mediocre . In other words,we are average ,prone to mistakes of our own making but have collected points against dire teams. Our loanees hardly get a look in,those we have loaned out have been frozen out of the club by Martin and we are seeing now the horrendous mismanagement of Steven Benda ,a decent keeper who was basically dumped for Andrew Fisher at Martin' insistence. It was he who brought him to us and we are stuck with him. Benda is one we should support and move heaven and hell to keep him,but NOWT from our super fans.

How long did it take Alex Ferguson to get it right?
You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

HE didnt take that long at Aberdeen when he arrived at Man U he already had a pedigree which included winning the Scottish Cup , European Cup Winners Cup and the European Super cup at Aberdeen
He arrived at Man U a club in turmoil and in his first season took them to 11th place from 21st when he took over.Whilst yes it took a while to win the league he still managed some cup success along the way.
It amazes me the number of times this "comparison" has been brought up on here....tell me what were Russ's managerial achievements before he cam here?

Not sure why you think the fans aren't behind Benda ? He is doing well and merits his place. Think most if not all Swans fans would agree with that ? Not Fisher's fault he wasn't able to make the grade for us. Hopefully he is learning and when he gets his chance no doubt he will be better. I am sure all managers, including the greats, make errors in their transfer dealings ? Was it John Bond ( who was respected as a decent manager ) who left Dean Saunders go ? Likewise, didn't Tosh prefer Dai Davies to another keeper ( Dai Stewart I believe ) ? Not always a popular choice with the fans, that decision Down the years and with all teams, probably thousands of such examples of managerial transfer "booboos"

He replaced your hero full stop, no matter what he achieves here you won't be happy.

The biggest thing about Cooper and Wembley is the well documented belief that his mind was already elsewhere even before the final kicked off. He may well have had his reasons ( the club weren't backing him, paying him what he was worth etc ). However it was the biggest game of his career to date and I ( and many others ) hold the belief that his mind was elsewhere. I am not sure we can level that charge at RM today ( unless someone tells us different)?

Cooper is not my hero I used him as a benchmark as you did Fergie!
See what I mean inconsitency
This comparison between Fergie and Martin has been used before...but without people looking at what Fergie actually achieved at UTD before he got to win the league but he arrived there with a pedigree what pedigree did Martin arrive with?

But no one gives Brentford any credit as you are suggesting Bristol should have credit for today?
All that is talked about is Cooper not being 100% focused....when I challenged tactics and selection today you state the oppostion should be given credit

So posters are not being consistent with Martin because other posters weren't consistent with Cooper.
I can see why Martin was getting stick from day one with some in here now.

Not at all
Again you are starting to twist things
When Cooper is used as a benchmark to our current manager and actually is one which is realistic as they both have been in senior management fora similar time the usual posts come out....yet to defend Martin many have posted a comparision to Fergie using his arrival at Utd as a defence to the time it seems to be taking Martin to get it right here
Maritn started on a level playing field ......I become frustrated with his management early doors and then even more so with the posting on here praising him...despite the failure.

Inconsistency again which is why I post!
Brentford were all over us in the early exchanges, gained a 2 - 0 lead and after that it was game over. They were far better than us on the day, but earlier in the season we were playing much better against top teams like them.
"Sanity and happiness are an impossible combination" - Mark Twain
Martin has started with the team including the pairing of both Sorinola and Latibeaudie which he seems to think as a safe starting eleven since loosing Manning but that has not been the case having both in the teams just doesn't enable us to put pressure on the opposition quickly as the forward play is suppressed by both, which invites teams to come at us. Manning should have started or if you are worried about his fitness given his injury start with Oko-Flex Cundle and Cooper give us more acting options but against a stubborn defense the use of the wings is vital to move them around. You could understand the perseverance of as a sign of loyalty for good performance by Latibeaudie and Sorinola but the start of the last three games have been poor only improving with change in two cases and beyond redemption against Burnley We have other options start with them and stop persevering with something that doesn't work. -------â€---------- Edit Sorry didn't include Cardiff in the last 3 games it was a one off because of early sending, the poor start to the three games were Burnley, Reading and Bristol.

like we were playing better at times last season then when were were when a 3rd rate QPR side due to squad issues beat us at home!
Top 6. Doing well. Lots of negativity on here. The vast majority at the start of the season would be happy where we are. Stay up there until the new year, then get some backing to bring a few in, we will have a real chance of promotion.

Not negativity just opinions and some observaqtions its only deemed negative because they are not in tune with the "we love "Russ" brigade
Im happy we are 6th though before today we were 4th...I am concerned we are slipping back to the way of playing we saw earlier in the season which could result in is slipping further down the table...but happy as our form recently is off promotion type winning at home and drawing away....
whilst I am happy it still doesnt mean I cant ctriqtiue or challenge the OTT "positivity"

Probably the same can be said about the over the top negativity that is coupled with urban myths created by some of those same people who want to create a bad taste towards Martin.
Clearly the source comes from the Cooper situation I explained a few posts back....its becoming alarmingly clear now.

OTT, in which way? We are 4th in the table, apart from Burnley our form has been excellent, hopefully get something at Preston and then Wigan home.
Anyone can beat anyone in this league, and of course it's negativity with you after our recent run you should be chuffed, but here you go again.
Sad really
