Next manager and reasons why... 17:17 - Aug 18 with 85695 views | Sheffield_dale | Shame it didn't work for Robbie. IMO he didn't get the team prepared for the season and unfortunately deserves to go. I can understand what he wanted to achieve with the formation but didn't coach them well enough/quick enough to put it into action. We would be too far adrift before things clicked into place. So, who do we want next. I'll throw in a suggestion. Dave Artell. Steadily built up a Crewe team on a low budget and got promoted. Not perfect by any means but he would be within our budget and has decent L2 experience and success.

Next manager and reasons why... on 23:29 - Aug 24 by D_Alien | You'd rather have Hill THEN Gannon? One after the other? That's what your sentence means. What you actually meant of course is: You'd rather have Hill than Gannon No "grammar policing" here: it's about making sense rather than making a trivial point Anyone else reading this who uses "then" when they mean "than", please take note |
I doubt there's many people reading this who don't understand the point seasidedale is making.

Nor do i, but using 'then' instead of 'than' in writing a CV for instance, will mark someone out as surely as arriving at an interview with "I'm an idiot" tattoed on their forehead It's their choice

Predictive text is pretty easy to understand. It is an unwanted add-on that changes something from what you wanted to say into what you didn't want to say. The only plus is you don't have to pay for it (directly). I think you can also disable it too, but I've never bothered trying to find out how.

Next manager and reasons why... on 21:20 - Aug 22 by D_Alien | I too think we've got the basis of a side that can compete in L2, given the right management One aspect of recruitment i would question is the overuse of young loanees. We're in no position to be giving promising youngsters experience, unless they're home grown. There's no loyalty to the club and their experience from the academies of major clubs is a world away from what's required They can all go back for me, but no qualms if the new manager thinks he can get them busting a gut. Most of all, i just want to see a team with a proper Dale identity that's not wet behind the ears |
The pronoun I should always be capitalized, regardless of where it appears in a sentence. No "grammar policing" here, just want to ensure you don't look silly if submitting a CV. Or then again, perhaps this is a football forum and not a CV writing workshop. If you are going to pick on someone for one innocent typo, it's best to make sure all of your own posts are immaculately written.
Next manager and reasons why... on 10:53 - Aug 25 with 4130 views | pnc4eva1 | The problems that the team appear to have are not hard to solve for a decent manager. Stockdale only had a plan A, in both formation and style of play. His rigid belief that the formation was going to work has been detrimental to Dale in games. The slow passing the ball around the back is something that appears to be popular throughout the English game at the moment (probably based upon statistics of matches won etc). Unfortunately other teams are ready for it and press the man on the ball (something that Dale do not do effectively). Due to poor confidence levels, and maybe ability, Dale's players panic and make mistakes. Tactically we are seeming to follow another national trend of defending set pieces by using zonal marking. Again we have been scouted by other teams and they know where to attack. This type of set piece defence seems to have been drilled into the players, but it obviously isn't working at the moment. Not only has it led to goals directly from set pieces, on Tuesday it resulted in no one chasing the second ball and Sheff Wednesday scoring three goals. The final piece of the problem is confidence and injuries. Ball looked lost and way out of his depth at Hillsborough. The back 5 panicked when under pressure. Hendo was chasing shadows, Rodney must be frustrated as he has pace and very few attempts were made to play the ball over the top. Charman was that keen to get some game time and came on when he shouldn't have done and therefore got injured. If fit we do have some good forwards and Keohane could help strengthen the midfield in place of Ball. As for who to come in as manager - Not Hill (his time has come and gone). Artell - not too sure as he had a better academy to help out. Askey - may be too expensive to compensate

The equivalent would've been: "Nor do a", which doesn't make any sense A non-capitalised "i" which is what i choose to use (in this context, as well as no full stop at the end of a paragraph) doesn't alter the meaning. You choose to use a non-capitalised "i". Not wrong, that's impossible, you choose to use "i". Heh. This is "towing the line" all over again. A welcome distraction from our inability to attract a new manager. [Post edited 25 Aug 2022 11:37]

I still maintain it's towing, or that towing can be used with validity Unlike the misuse of "then", which is of the same order as misusing "of" instead of "have" I too welcome the distraction!
