Is this the most miserable run since we were last in the Premier league? To be fair, that was a lot better but there again, Preston were very ordinary. Ref was good by the way. And well done Murphy.

On the other thread, Lee Hoos infers that if we don't finish in the top six, MW won't be offered a new deal - I think that's how I read it.

No, he said there were three options

He triggers a deal through set targets.
We offer him a deal, or
We don't.

I don't think he inferred which of the three was the likeliest, at least that was my reading of it.

Just got home from yet another depressing day following us. I read quite a bit of the forum in the car back and for me I just can't fathom out what is happening
There seems to be a concensus that we were some what "improved" today..... we were far from improved if I'm honest..... we were still inept
There were a few good performances, the young lad Murphy did well..... Sanderson who is not one of ours was decent..... and Field was good and deserved better from his team mates
I thought long and hard over Warbs and I hate to say this but as posted he as run his race with us and needs to go
Whether it was his responsibility for the loans, is academic, the loan contrast between Hendrick and their lad Archer is light years apart. I was talking after the game to a PNE guy, he told me that the lad as rejuvenated them..... where our loans have crippled us
Somehow we need to get some sort of results before the end of the season otherwise I can see us taking this into the new one and we are relegation bound if we do
Horrible period for us..... and oh how we are all use to horrible periods with club.

"He triggers a deal through set targets."

I was reading it that MW had been given the target for this season as finishing in the top six - not achieving that means no new deal.

Personally, I believe there is a much bigger reason why performances have fallen off a cliff - the owners are not going to continue to shrug their shoulders and pour endless monies into the club.

Didn't a new board member (American) join around the January time - maybe he's joined the Board to broker a sale. It's not as daft as it sounds, especially as there are multiple groups trying to buy our near neighbours. Time will tell.

We've had worse - we lost six in a row twice under Holloway's second spell, including toward the end of a season when we got too close to the bottom three.

The end of McLaren's spell was worse as well, but at the same time this is feeling very similar.

Very depressing nonetheless.

No coincidence really; there's a culture of failure at the club from the top down. How people can still be defending the clowns running the club when you see how spectacularly we have blown our position at the end of January is beyond me. I'm starting to think they didn't actually want to go up because surely no one is that incompetent. It's extraordinary how we have so many well-paid directors overseeing this culture of failure year after year. Warburton is clearly on his way out but so too should be Ferdinand - to f*ck up this badly really is unforgivable.

That's an interesting take on Richard Reilly, who joined the board a couple of months ago: https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/richard-reilly-joins-qpr-board-110222/

I do sometimes wonder how long our present owners will stick with us.

It’s been a dreadful run but I can’t see any point in replacing Warburton. Absolutely beset by injuries for some time on an industrial scale. Needs to get more pace in the spine of the team next season. Up until this horrendous run we’ve been playing very entertaining football under Warburton. Would rather stick and build than start all over again and lose any semblance of a playing style.

Hopefully Warbs is learning an awful lot from this that he can use to our advantage next season.
Another nothing performance for 60 minutes from Amos - we know he has the talent and engine, but he really needs to start performing regularly and affecting games. 30 similar minutes from Thomas, although he gets nowhere a bit faster!
Our midfield really doesn't work as a unit at the moment, and as Brian commented elsewhere, often doesn't seem to be in the right areas to influence the game.
The near-post run for the first goal - Dykes should look and learn.
Big lump up front for FC IOM scored 2 headed goals last night, tussled with pretty much every opposition player through the 90 minutes in a match where 3 were sent off - good lad.

FC IOM?

FC Isle of Man - inaugural season in the football pyramid, in the tenth tier, finished 2nd and are in the play off final. Home semi yesterday, in front of 2700 people.

But my point was that a physically large striker in a rough-house league imposed himself on the match - Dykes, obviously a much better player, needs to do more of that, like Polter used to. Even when the latter was off form, anyone marking him would know they had been in a physical battle.

The culture of the club was fine on the 31st January. Nothing has changed at the head of the club since.

This is a playing failure. Injuries, loss of form, fatigue, loss of confidence.

Lessons to be learnt, we need more youth, more pace and a slightly bigger squad.

11th now - unless Fulham get two goals. Can't see us beating last seasons finish of 9th, which is a real shame.
