Just 2 minutes? Our full backs are devoid of confidence, or ability, or both. I have never before prayed for Jim Mc to be fit. I hope Robbie sees something we don't in both of them.
Jim and O'Connell is our best combo at CB. By Miles.
Lost count of the number of times I've walked away from Spotland thinking we threw away a point or even all three when we deserved them, especially at the death. Nice for the boot to be on t'other foot for a change.
I like RS, but he seems so unable to change the system, five at the back may work for away games, when the home side as to attack, but it does not work at home.
I would like to see White at left back with Jimmy in the midfield to add a bit of experience in the midfield. Also the introduction of Matty Done gave us more experience towards the end and we should use use his experience more often towards the end of games. In the end I was happy with the point, but disappointed with some players performances, Kelly who in recent weeks looked good, seemed to misplace a lot of passes against Orient.
However we need to identify and recruit a CD, a Lund type midfield player and a striker in January.

Whilst preferring a change to a back four to stop other teams taking advantage behind the wingbacks, if we do play five it’s got to be worth Keohane or White centrally and the other at LWB. Both are better on the ball and we already know Keohane can do a job there.

Kelly to me looked like he was forcing a pass, because no one was moving into a decent area. Robbie said on radio Bolton he didn't like the way we played without the ball. That said we drew, last season we would have lost.

We scored in the 1st and 90th minutes v Peterborough at home in October 1983.
I've still got some gaps to fill in to find other examples, but goal times are missing from some of the older archives.
Just looked that up and the attendance that day was 1299
How on earth did we survive those lean years?
People should stop moaning and take a deeper breath when our current temporary playing resources fall a bit short of what they think they have a 'right' to expect

Absolutely.
Posh had David Seaman in goal that night. We beat them 2-1 at home in three consecutive seasons.

I think part of the answer was that we didn't pay very much and players often had part-time jobs on the side. In effect we were partly semi-professional. I am sure I have read that in stories from players of those times. Didn't someone like Brian Taylor used to drive the coach to away games because he had a commercial vehicle license from his other job? I have probably got the name wrong but it was around that era.

I'm as peed off as anybody with Saturday's lightweight performance and defensive frailties. Given what D_Alien has said, and the $hitstorm we've had to endure from traitors, leaches and more since March, we should be more than proud we have fought the scumbags off and have a fan owned club with an amazing level of unity on its side competing in the football league. Mid table at this stage is a miracle considering the short amount of time and resources RS has had to assemble a squad. Agree wholeheartedly with the criticisms of what we've seen on the pitch, particularly at home this season. Not great to watch. With an element of perspective, it could, and should, be a lot worse. It isn't. There was a book about our club published many years ago called "The Survivors". We've done that in the Football League (100 years to be precise) where many buckets and others have fallen. We've fought off the biggest threat most of us have seen at the club in a lifetime. We've dumped the most self-serving charlatan and nastiest director / employee most of us have seen at the club, and fantastically reconstructed board of directors working in the "Rochdale way". As a happy accident, we've also shifted a manager who gave us our most unsuccessful home league record in our history, and the imbecile (the exceptionally talented communicator who, never told us about it which is surely a first in football!) who gave him an extended contract and a pay rise for doing so! Dale is in recovery from all this and the frustration we all feel needs to be tempered by the reality. One thing rings true, and the club will only get better in time as a result. We have, and will outlast many others because we do things the right way. And as we sing these days......

Very well put, everything is ok at the Dale thanks to everyone's brilliant work. When I say everything I'm sure we'll give RS a good crack at it, he's new at this management lark and he's not had it made easy for a starter.

Goal times are incomplete up to 1980, due to them not always being recorded in the press or with the data missing from the archives at the EFL.
However, 30 Dale goals scored in the first minute appear in the English National Football Archive (ENFA), so how many do you remember?

Steve Johnson at York was 14 seconds I think. Quite the cup shock that one as they were miles clear at the top.
That Dawson one at Wrexham takes me back, we were awful that day!
At the opposite end of the spectrum we were surprisingly excellent at Stoke when Morris scored. Great cup run.
The Connor and Perkins goals against Yorkshire opposition helped create cracking atmosphere with full away ends. Similarly Chris Beaumont in 1988 in what still remains one of the finest ever games seen at Spotland in the 4-3 Cup replay defeat against Huddersfield.

Interestingly, regarding the Dawson goal, we had scored in the 90th minute a week earlier at home to Northampton, although it was getting on for midnight when it went in!
It's not the best video, but you can see what's going on.
